Been an issue for some time. His camp has been contacting other programs to try and get more money. Oregon’s coach called Heupel and told him they were contacted. They are asking for 3 million a year.
As far as Nico personally, he loves where he is at. His daddy is driving the train though.

This is to be expected when you buy a players services to begin with. I understand that everyone is getting paid, but Nico is the definition of a mercenary. Tennessee vastly outbid everyone for him, otherwise he would have never gone to Tennessee. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that the contract laborer 1800 miles from home is testing his leverage
Any player that’s at your school because you paid him the most is a flight risk. If it were up to me, Bamas roster would be full of kids that had 2-3 better financial offers elsewhere, because that’s an indication they want to be there and are there for the right reasons.

Meh.They continually bragged about going "all in" on NIL with the signing of Nico.
It's what happens when you sign mercenaries.
Screw 'em

If I'm Tennessee, I'd say bye. He was okay, but not like he was on the cusp of a Heisman last year. If you're gonna demand a huge surge in pay, earn it.
Yea I’d drag out the negotiations and then pull his original nil offer or just tell him we not negotiating. He can roll out and find another team. But most teams are ready set at the position.

OK. No more of this "they're just kids playing for the love of the game" crap. They are paid (professional) athletes open to criticism and scrutiny just like any other profession. The college game is officially dead.

As long as dumb dumbs keep posting repetitive Nico threads

Every SEC program is talking about millions of dollars in revenue. Why are they so worried about optics of running their business the right way? If a player sits, fine his arse. If he leaves, he and his former team need to be bought out. Stop trying to treat these kids as professionals all the way until they breach contract when then they are suddenly just students or kids again.

I'm sure he'd love where he's at even more if someone pays him three million dollars to play college football.

I’m still convinced that Dabo has the last laugh and his model of loyalty to players and demanding loyalty to the school in return ends up being the winning path. Pay fair compensation but don’t sell the program when a player/parents/agent are unreasonable
If you look at the top returning QBs for 2025 seaaon, many have been with same school entire career:
Arch Manning at Texas
Drew Allar at Penn State
Garrett Nussmeier at LSU
Case Klubnik at Clemson
We will see how it plays out for all of them this season with long-standing veteran QBs.
