But hey, those two 4 loss seasons in the middle were just awesome.

better than the three 6-7 loss seasons ya'll are enjoying now.

Answer these two questions for me:
Why is it that Lane Kiffin was the best y'all could get after firing Fulmer?
Is Lane Kiffin a better coach than Fulmer?

Yeah, look at the productivity he got out of the team with Arian Foster, Jonathan Crompton, Luke Stocker, Eric Berry, Montario Hardesty, Dan Williams, Denarius Moore, Robert Ayres, Ramon Foster, Jacques McClendon, Chris Scott, and everyone else on the team in 2008. Really indicated he was about to turn things around.

There's a difference. At least Tennessee has a chance to be good in the future.

The coaching on the 2009 team was vastly superior to that of the 2008 team and that's not remotely debatable.

Is Lane Kiffin a better coach than Fulmer? Not based on one season. I'm asking as a whole. Was hiring Lane Kiffin an upgrade over Philip Fulmer? The answer is no. You fired Fulmer and then hired a coach that was not as good as him. That was stupid. Y'all should have kept Fat Phil until you could guarantee someone better.

sure you can... teams do it all the time.

Clemson fired Bowden and hired Sweeney... BB was a better coach on paper, but Dabo has his team in the top 10, in line for a ACC Championship.

Auburn fired Tuberville and hired Chizik... worked out pretty well.

But to answer the question, no. Hamilton not firing Failmer after 05 is why we're in this position.

Our upperclassmen are OVC quality thanks to Failmer.

Perfectly put!

Kiffin-currently the coach at USC
Fulmer-currently getting rejected by the likes of UCONN and Minnesota

The firing isn't the problem....it was the hiring of K and D.......

Im not gonna lie after Saturday night Im having my doubts on Dooley. I hope he can turn it around but his game decisions were terrible and next year maybe his last on the hill.

you brought in Cam. That worked out. Chizik has yet to work out. Talk to me in 5 years when you haven't competed for the SEC West again. You fired a coach that went undefeated and hired a coach that had 5 wins. Tuberville won the West 5 times, the SEC once, and got screwed out of a NC. He also beat Bama 6 years in a row.

Chizik hasn't sniffed the success that Tuberville had.

Tennesse fans regrets firing fulmer?

If fulmer was still coach tenn would probably be doing very well right now considering how down the east is.

He brought the lulz in recruiting post 02. So not sure if serious...

Our coaching staff was god awful on top of that. I hate him more than any man in Tennessee athletics. Every Saturday I hate him more.

We would be sitting on 13 years without an SEC title with the same coach, and you think Tennessee fans would want that? East titles are nothing.

Or, to put it another way, answer this question:

Who has won an SEC championship more recently...Philip Fulmer or Mike Dubose?

Fulmer's lack of recruiting the last few years is what screwed us. I swear he didn't recruit a decent O-lineman between 06-08. He just got lazy and sat on his arse. THAT is why we suck now, along with Kiffin adding insult to injury

Exactly. Other than Douglass, Fulmer really left the lines in a horrible spot. There's a reason Tennessee had to start multiple walk on linemen in Kiffin's year, and then had to start 4 freshman Dooley's first year. It's unbelievable a former lineman and offensive line coach could let the line get in that condition.

I still think people will be surprised how much this next year will help the offensive line.

Except in the category that matters the most: Championships.

He's matched Tuberville in SEC titles and won a national title. I was also one of the guys saying they should have kept Tuberville and still honestly think he may be a better coach, but the fact is they won a national title, which are incredibly rare as it is. Now that they avoided any major NCAA issues, it's pretty damn difficult to say they messed up firing Tuberville.

I'd rather lose while taking shots at winning then be guaranteed mediocrity. It may suck for a while, but chances are you'll finally get it right.

No he isn't.

This will be the first year since he's been coaching that he'll lose fewer than 2 games.

Cutcliffe did the exact same thing. As well as refusing to fire assistants.

You have 3 recruiting classes by coaches other than Fulmer. Do you feel like the talent is better now than when Fulmer was the coach?
