I guess one of the most interesting things about Tennessee's campus is the body farm.
Texas State's is about 10 miles from my office.
They've learned a great deal about how bodies decompose in this area since opening it.

Lol. Bragging about slavery, bro?
In Texas, after all you Dixieland pussies lost the War of Northern Aggression for us, we were still using slaves for 3 years. Juneteenth is fun in downtown Dallas.
It's because you pussy Texans got mowed down in the Peach Field at Gettysburg. You compromised the entire flank of the Confederate Army.

All I can do is
And no I'm not bragging... just always thought it was cool that my family at one time owned the land LSU was built on. My great, great, great grandfather was the one who owned it, and in his will he freed all of his slaves when he died.
He also owned a few businesses in New Orleans, and married Zelia Destrehan and owned the Destrehan plantation for a while.

I don't expect a response from any Texan. John Bell Hood's Brigade had the Union troops from Maine outnumbered and outgunned, but didn't move on the high ground fast enough. You can pretty much trace the bungling of Gettysburg back to these actions. Pickett's Charge would have never been necessary had Little Round Top been taken and artillery been turned on the Union "fishhook" from those heights.

Sorry I know nothing about the Civil War other than the fact that y'all lost it, we were awesome, and Robert E. Lee loved us the most. Revisionist history? Who knows? Since we really glossed over the Civil War in high school and took 2 years of Texas history instead.

No, but if they owned any land LSU is now on then it is possible we married into them. I would have to go look at our Family Geneology book to give you the answer on that b/c I don't remember. I do know there is a story in there about how we owned that land.
And if you look on the brochure/website of the owners for the Destrehan Plantation my great great great grandfather is on there. Initials SH
