It's not like school doesn't start until Tuesday (oh that's right...IT DOESN'T START UNTIL TUESDAY)

I don't really understand the issue people have with the ticket sales.
Last time was played La Tech in Shreveport there were about 40k people there. At least 15k of that was Aggies if not more.
Many people I have talked to didn't go through the school to get tickets. They either went through La Tech b/c it was cheaper or are planning to just walkup and get the best available ticket the day of the game.
This time it should hit somewhere in the 35-40k range.
That seems to be around where regular season La Tech games in Shreveport top out.
Hell, La Tech has never even completely sold out their home stadium in Ruston that holds about 30k. Their highest attendance was 28.7k and that was against Louisiana Monroe. If you can't even completely fill a 30k stadium against an instate team you aren't going to have a huge turnout in a 53k stadium for a Thursday night game over an hour away from campus.
It would probably be assured of 40k if it was on a Saturday but the Thursday time slot makes it a lot harder for people to attend. I had a hell of a time finding a 3rd person to give a ticket to here in Dallas. Every time I get turned down its b/c people have work.
Also, this being the first year in the SEC probably does not help as many people are saving their road trip money for places like Tuscaloosa and Oxford.

BTW, if any of you TAMU fans remember a player named Johnny Hector, RB, later with Jets, I was his baseball coach in Little League. Great kid. He was a pitcher.

Hard-nosed back. A&M was loaded with Hector, Roger Vick and Keith Woodside.

Are you serious? I've never seen school start at A&M before Labor Day (3 of my four years there, it started ON labor day). I guess this is fairly new.

Yeah it did. Last fall it started on Labor Day as well, but it definitely started today.

I've been trying to find some shred of good if this game is postponed, and the only two I can come up with are no injuries and Florida doesn't get any tape on the Ags.
If the game is postponed, do we lose Gameday?
I feel like waiting for this game has been 10 summers long. I hope to hell they play.

The game will be played at it's scheduled time. The field conditions may suck and the weather may not be ideal for kickoff, but the game is happening.

Hey Kaiser, how come so few students from AM coming up? I read where they returned half the allotment.
Everyone bought from Tech's allotment on Ticketmaster instead of through our own AD. The tickets were better AND cheaper that way. But yeah, sorry for not selling out our opponent's choice of venue, in our opponent's state, on a Thursday night.

Isaac may impact Aggies season opener
Louisiana Tech officials will make a decision by Tuesday afternoon on whether to reschedule the football team’s Thursday game against Texas A&M.
The two teams are scheduled to kick off their respective seasons at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Shreveport at Independence Stadium. Isaac, a tropical storm likely to strengthen into a hurricane Monday afternoon, is now projected to hit the Louisiana coast and move into the state.
There are no current plans to use Independence Stadium as an evacuation area. La Tech did activate an emergency response web site for its students Monday afternoon.

As a native resident of South La. I went through 5 hurricanes. And I was a radio broadcaster. Here are some troofs of life:
1. There is no such thing as a hurricane that reaches Shreveport. Never has, never will be. It's impossible. It's called physics.
2. The idiot poster who said that Rita or whatever went through Shreveport as a Cat 1 is a liar or on dope. The weather here was great during Rita.
3. Media is told to scare the public. My station manager always said "Zach, if it comes into the Gulf tell all our listeners that they are gonna die if they don't listen to KANE radio 24/7".
4. It's interesting that you guys bought tickets thru Tech instead of TAMU. Thanks for the info. That is not being reported here.
5. Why in the hell is TAMU only a 7 point favorite? I know home team gets some points but Tech will not have tons of fans there. There are not tons of Tech fans.

New coach, new scheme, new freshman QB, first game, away against a team that doesn't have our talent but is very salty.

We were a 13 point favorite until the following happened:
-Announcement of a Freshman starting QB
-Suspension of Steven Jenkins and Howard Matthews
-Brandon Williams waiver denied

Probably smoking pot, fighting in bars, or both.

I have heard they skipped a drug test but I have no idea if its true

While you are correct it was not a Cat 1 when it came through Shreveport, it was still a tropical storm and it was probably the worst one I've ever seen in Shreveport. I sail here so I know the weather better than most. I sailed on Cross Lake during Ike. I'd have been dead had I tried that during Rita.
If you think the weather was great during Rita, you're stupider than the guy that thought it was a Cat 1. Anything like Rita happens and they'd be right to shut this game down because it couldn't be played.
