Tampa's weather in March is much better than the weather in Fayetteville, Lexington, Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, Athens, Starkville, etc.

Prior host cities include:
Atlanta
Knoxville
Baton Rouge
Louisville
Birmingham
Lexington
Orlando
Memphis
New Orleans
Nashville
Tampa (2009)
St. Louis

I’m not mad cause it’s 2.5 hours from me but would rather in just be in Nashville every year

I was at the tourney as the guest of Florida Power Corp.

Its a nice arena easy to get in and out.

That would be St. Petersburg.

Kentucky fans will drive, fly, hang glide, ride a mule or ride a yak to get to wherever the tournament is held.

That's kind of silly considering there are probably 10-20 beaches within 20 minutes.

I lived in South Tampa and it was generally 40-45 minutes door-to-beach. Worse if there's traffic (good beach day), 1 hour+ if you're anywhere else in Tampa.

And I'm pretty sure it was the worst attended SECT in decades. And then when Kentucky got bounced in the 2nd round, it was a complete disaster for attendance.

No way unless you are trying to drive in rush hour traffic or you are driving past other beaches to get to a specific one further away.

The one thing it has going for it is the weather is better than Nashville in March.

For an indoor sport is this really important?

Tampa? Might as well put it in Kansas City. Or, why not Denver? Just some random city outside the footprint.

Could be for people looking to do more than the games etc.

Even though I live there, I won't be going to the games. And the beaches I only go to because people come and visit and always want to go.

Do it in Fayetteville. Better Arena than any of those places.

Nope. Lived right by the Gandy bridge, fastest place in Tampa to get to the beaches.

No way in 20 minutes, ever.

Are you counting parking and walking or something? Because I somehow get to them faster than you while living further away.

Must be the direction you are coming from I guess.

I live up north and get to Clearwater in 35, which is faster than the 45 you said earlier. The closest option is like 10-15(but not as nice IMO).

Also you do technically have beaches closer, but I'm not going to hold it against you for not counting them. It's not the same without the waves.

They should move it all to Nashville. SEC office, SEC Basketball Tourny. Make it fair for all.

Yeah lol sorry not counting the bay "beaches" nobody wants to go there and it's not the ocean.

35 I can see, particularly if it's Clearwater and you're somewhere like citrus park but not 20.

Is Tampa not a fun place? When I was in Florida all the Tampa people swore by it, I figured it was a cleaner less fun Nola with a nice beach.

I've been to Tampa several times and always enjoy it. As others have said beaches are a little ways out but there's still a ton of stuff to do and they've been doing a lot of work downtown. Busch Gardens is al fun too.
