Sally Wheeler: How does the slingbox work for you? You need internet connection, which has always scared me during game day because it seems to go downhill pretty quickly on those days. Any issues for you?

We use LSU guest wireless on a laptop that's connected to the tvs with someone's slingbox account. Works pretty well for the most part.

I editied the OP with pics of my wishlish, because last year was our first year tailgating away from the fraternity house since it was dry at the time. My current capital is not very built up, hence the thread.
But please, post pictures when possible. As someone else said, this thread is a shadow of itself without pictures.

I'm a tailgating minimalist. No tent, no grill, no frills. A cooler, some food, stereo, and a TV. I don't bring the satellite setup, but have an antenna that picks up all thd locals in HD. We have a spot in the shade so tent has never been needed.
The women are in charge of the food. It's usually wings, ribs/BBQ, or fried chicken. If we get there early for an early kickoff I'll bring the camp stove and do some pancakes.
Cooler is stocked with beer and ginger ale.

I'll tell you what though, the tent is just as much about being a beacon and establishing a presence as it is about creating shade.

True, but our spot is not on campus and in area with little foot traffic. We've used a tent before and I found it unnecessary.
When I'm ready to leave, I like to be able to break it all down and load it up in 5 minutes.

Yeah, I'm a Gump and know my tailgating approach is abnormal. I used to be gung ho about it, but got tired of dealing with all the pregame prep and post game tear down.
For big games some of the folks we tailgate with go all out with grills, smokers, etc and I'll throw a few bucks at them for all the meat they buy and prepare. I'd rather sit, drink whiskey, and watch other games than slave over a hot grill or smoker.
I'm pretty lazy.

Thx. It was actually pretty easy to build. Way cheaper than buying one and set the way I wanted it.

1 Trailer Hitch Cargo Carrier
Honda Generator
Weber Grill
Propane Tank w 40qt pot and strainer
Beer- Preferably IPA's for the morning then hit the coors light in the hottest part of the day
3 Tents
Blender
Crockpots
Excedrin
We have an ongoing debate in our tailgate group about the benefits/costs of having a TV. We have done it before and imho it is too much of a pain in the arse. Several groups around us stay at the tailgate to watch TV, so I just offer them food and power from the generator to watch their tv.

Assuming you have tickets to the game, IMO the TV is not worth it for the 12:00 EST/11:00 CST or 3:30 EST/2:30 CST kickoffs.
If you are going to a night game and will be tailgating all day, then yeah it is cool to be able to watch the action on TV.
Obviously, if you don't have tickets to the game for which you are tailgating then you absolutely need a tv so you can watch once your game starts.

But worth the cost? Looked at them, and I can have an Ice truck stay at our tailgate for about the same amount of money

Depends on what you do. Go off-shore for a couple of days? Sure. Cool down your Nattys for tailgating? Naw.
