Suppose a player drafted year before last is cut, has only used 4 years, and sues?

After all, the class right before him got 5 years! It’s not fair that he should be arbitrarily denied the right to work to, since other players were given 5 years.
How does a judge consistently accept the LSU-cooked-up claims from this batch of players while denying a player from the draft class a year before a 5th year to make college money?

That player would've either had 5 years available due to Covid or left early.

Reading comprehension is your friend. He did get an extra year, he chose not to use it. A far cry from someone who was told he only had 4 years, and then after the draft was told he actually should’ve had 5.

A line has to be drawn somewhere. There are some logically places you could draw that line: (1) any player that did not withdraw from the draft, (2) any player that made an NFL 53-man roster. Then there are arbitrary places you can draw that line (i.e., any player that attended an NFL training camp, but not rookie mini-training camp). It's the arbitrary line that is ultimately the problem.

It isn't about everyone playing 5 years, it's about the option to play 5 years.
If you leave early and waive additional eligibility, that's on you.

It should be option 1. And there should be no TROs at all. Covid still fricking us years later
