I'm not taking sides, but you can't ignore the lack of institutional control there is at A&M in regard to their players' legal troubles.

Contrast that to what Charlie Strong is doing at Texas. He's determined to instill discipline into his program, and is in the process of running off the deadbeats and douche bags.
this is the correct way to solve the problem. sumlin should have done this a year ago

Players have been dismissed. Others have been punished.
Short of having a crystal ball when you recruit these kids, there's not much else you can do.

So, who should be kicked off A&M's team at this point then?
Maybe they should have a team vote to determine it...

i'm not an A&M coach so i have no idea. there's usually a core group of bad apples and if you don't get rid of that core it ends up affecting the entire team negatively. UT coach seems to know what he's doing. it's not rocket science

What exactly has he done that's so much different from Sumlin? He's only had this offseason and it's not like Sumlin hasn't shown the willingness to discipline as well.

Manziel told Sumlins bitche arse to go frick himself on national TV
Dudes got no control after all the jail bird recruits saw how easy it was to walk all over KS

I agree 100% with everything there, except perhaps that Strong has gotten rid of that core. That's just lapping up Austin press releases with out actually looking at the truth. Just take a look at Strong's "discipline record" at Louisville for a clue.
All I'm trying to say, and what seems to be lost in communication, is that there is nothing showing that A&M has a bunch of "bad kids" that will bring the program down.
Has there been too many arrests? Sure, I would hope that 1 would be too many. However, they have all been dealt with on the merit of the cases themselves. The serious offenders are gone, dismissed, cya later, ciao from the team. The less serious offenses have been handled through suspension and loss of games. Seems fair.
You're right though. It's not rocket science. It's sociology and communication with a program that, whether you like it or not, is trying to implant an image of brashness and swagger. That may rub some people the wrong way, but judging from the huge surge in recruiting it seems to be working. It's not the only way of course. Saban and Miles have completely different tactics and those work for them. That doesn't detract from Sumlin though. Whatever works.
TL;DR don't make baseless assumptions.

You've been on this board how long and still can't respond or quote the correct poster?

He should have put it to a team vote.

Charlie Strong is likely going to reinstate many of those players. I think after meeting with them on monday, the dismissals will be voided.
The felony sexual assault charges have only warranted a suspension.
The discipline is not harsher, it's just some public dismissals/ PR regarding failed drug tests.

The only reason folks even mention strong on here is to get a rise out of Ags, tbh

As much as I hate to agree with a decision made at 40 acres, I think that was actually a fair move though.
Suspension until more of the facts come out... because if even half that women's story is true the only football they have to worry about is in the prison yard.
What a horrible story though, no matter what.

I just ignore.
As for sumlin losing control, nah, I blame Louisiana. The main issue is that texas enforces laws while Louisiana allows you to do whatever you want. The state and people are so broken that they've pretty much given up. They just exist out of habit. So enforcing laws is on the bottom of their list, and the result is Louisiana kids escaping those borders thinking that their normal behavior will be tolerated by society outside said borders.

I agree that suspension is fair until the facts come out. That is what fair coaches do.
But that does not make him a strict disciplinarian

From what I understand, there were surprise drug tests administered and those dismissed had multiple failures. There will be a meeting Monday, but I have my doubts if any will be re-instated. The sexual assault guys are gone forever most likely, and 1 sr safety was dismissed for a reason unknown by me.
