The only things other Southern states have on Mississippi is larger cities.

Yes, we're very well aware that New Orleans, Atlanta, Nashville and Birmingham are cooler places than Jackson. Very few Mississippians would disagree with that. However, if you think any random <50K town in Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, South Carolina or Georgia is better than any random <50K town in Mississippi, you're delusional.

Yes, you could cherry pick the worst of one and pit it agianst the best of another. I'm talking about the averages though.

Okay, I gotta do some work. Holler.

1. Grisham lives in Oxford.
-He went to state and State fans claim him. shite, Bundy's done it on this board a few times.
2. Faulkner lived in Oxford, and served as town drunk until literature figs decided he was great and Oxford embraced him.
-And? Your point? That's how celebrities become famous. I'm sure somebody in Brad Pitt's home town hates his fricking guts too.
3. Starkville threw Johnny Cash in jail, and Oxford tried to kill James Meridith. Any Ole Miss alum will tell you it was the townies not the students who rioted.
-Fair enough point.
4. Both places have chains and red neck douche bags with lift kits and frayed hats.
Well sure, but stereotypes are fun, right?
5. I doubt this guy has been to the Balkans, it looks nothing like Starkville. If Balkan-esque is meant as an insult, it is a terrible one because there are parts of the Balkans that are beautiful.
By saying "Balkan-esque" he's making a reference to the infrastructure-crippling, soul-crushing civil war that took place there in the 1990's. Surely you're aware of that. He means "Balkan-esque" as in the Balkan states, not the Balkan Mountains themselves.
The Barcelona reference is just stupid.
I disagree.

1. But he also went to Ole Miss
2. That is not how celebrities become famous.
5. I know he's talking about the Balkan States. I've been there, the war is over.

Is this serious? Maybe I didn't venture out enough my 4 years there, but I never once saw a cow in Starkville. West Point yes, Starkville no. I'm not saying there isn't a cow pasture in Starkville, I'm saying I've never seen it

Yes its serious. I went for a wedding two months ago and theres a frickin exit with cow pastures on both sides of it leading right into the ghetto that I was talking about.

I don't know where I'd find them, but you've gotta see the columns this guy wrote about LSU when he was writing for the DM in the late-90's/early-00's.

It appears his career really hasn't advanced all that much.

Reading the article, it's not hard to see why. My guess is his "fans" actually think something he writes is relevant...and entertaining. It's shite. The writer and his devoted readers deserve each other.

Yeah, I nkow the war is over, that doesn't mean that there still aren't landmines and shite all over the place.

I've been too. There were still parts of Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and whatnot that were rubble, minefields, etc. That place is scarred and will be for a long time.

The Dalmatian region of Croatia and the entirety of Solvenia is gorgeous though.

ETA: see y'all tomorrow!!11

Your Balkan-esque landscape is so devoid of charm that it even depresses the frayed ball-cap, F-150 lift kit crowd from other crappy ag schools visiting for football games. Compared to you, Clemson is a clear spring morning in Barcelona.

Let's all give thanks that Ole Miss and State don't possess nuclear weapons.

It is still directed to one individual team in the SEC West, wouldn't you agree?

To me it sounds just like, This is Our State moto.

What? If you want to see cow pastures drive west out of Oxford toward Batesville. And you're saying Oxford doesn't have a ghetto? Hell, you have a gigantic trailer park planted right in the middle of town for starters.

I lived in Oxford for 4 years and never have I seen this trailor park. Im not saying it doesnt exist, but its not smack down in the middle of town. More made up shite.

fwiw, to the rest of the world, mississippi is just a shite hole.

And to which other SEC southern state is the beacon of light for the rest of the world to look towards?

Answer: All of them. All U.S. states (not just Southern states) have their beacons and their shitholes.

I like Mississippi. I have relatives in Carriere and a very good friend (and Saints STH) in Jackson who is a Rebel alumnus; and more relatives in Laurel and friends in Hattiesburg, Gautier, and Pascagoula.
Many Louisianians are welcomed with open arms to the Magnolia State when evacuating.

Personally I don't like anyone calling ANY SEC or Southern state a shithole. I am a very proud native New Orleanian, Louisianian, and Southerner.

I am a glass half-full person, so I must be a subsriber to the "beacon-of-light" rather than the "shithole" ideology.

Just my 2c.

Come on, compare the six pack to nafoom, it's going to be about the same.

Keep kidding yourself. Do you realize how many threads SPS has started on OM players who havent even taken a snap yet? Not one thread about any MSU commitments from the 11' class exept if Robinson is going to qualify or not. There were multiple threads about CJ and Tobias though. State is who broke the CJ twitter deal. The fact that yall were following his twitter is pure obsession.

Also, remember the offseason banner put out by Ole Miss, I believe it went:

Pay attention because heres the difference....
That banner is in the OM football locker room. No one but coaches and players are to see it. Thats who it is for. You put the same shite on frickin billboards. You arent motivating your players, youre motivating your obsessed fans.

I'm still trying to find out with what is wrong with a cow pasture? Steaks, Hamburgers, milk, and ice cream are pretty good imo.

ETA: Cheese and Brisket as well.
