If Garcia was a shitty QB, you would think people wouldn't care if he was starting or not.

Mainly UGA fans.

As much as he gets bashed on here, he is still pretty damn good. Yea, he makes bonehead plays on and off the field, but the good plays outweigh the bad. I think Spurrier likes him strictly for the attitude and confidence he brings when he is on the field.

nooooooooooope.

psh our defense last couple of years any qb looks like a heisman guy. plus every year i feel like the cocks put one of their best efforts of that season out against the dawgs.

screw it, we still gonna whoop dat arse. or we can thank you for getting richt fired. preferably option 1 but w/e works

Garcia certainly matters. If Garcia isn't in, get ready to see a stacked box to take away Lattimore.

I'll be honest, despite some of his turnover issues and off-the-field antics, I feared him when Auburn played SC this past year.

It really is a Jekyll & Hyde situation with Garcia. It seemed that there wasn't a single other person on the field playing with as much heart as him. There wasn't a single quarterback in the SEC that displayed the ability to take a big hit and get up and keep playing like Garcia.

I hope as a football fan this isn't the last we've seen of Garcia (99% probability it is), but on a personal level I hope the dude can just figure things out because he's obviously got issues.

who said he's shitty? With the QB situation in the SEC going into this year, he can easily make a case for being top 2 or 3 in the league.

My gripe is with the disproportionate scale of punishment across different schools in the SEC. This guy has had chance after chance to not frick up and over, and over, and over again he does frick up, with NO negative consequences. If I was him I'd get drunk all the time too, why shouldnt' he? He and everyone in the world knows he's not going to get punished severely, and he's not going to miss any game time. If he played for Georgia he would've been kicked off the team 2 years ago. It's just absurd that he is still allowed to do what he does with no repercussions.

FWIW Frankie Hammond who received a DUI was suspended for half a season and got his scholarship removed by Urban as well. I know Garcia wasn't issued with a DUI, but Spurrier should punish Garcia IMO, and something that's worthwhile.

i can honestly say i never have really feared him. in 2008 i feared UGA looking ahead (which it bout did). in 2009 i feared our defense would shite the bed (and it did except for rennie being the man), and 2010 i feared lattimore and our pitiful rush defense

I mean, after the Chick-fil-A bowl disaster, and his long history of alcohol-related offenses, you think they can possibly justify bringing him back?

If it was later in the summer, I'd consider a chance, but this is literally just weeks after he got reprimanded for binging in Atlanta.

Is it a team violation to drink alcohol? I was under the assumption that he reportedly "showed up to a mandatory meeting drunk". Which has yet to be proven.

I'm pretty sure he will be back. I think Spurrier knows what's at stake and will do anything to bring him back.

Well I might be in the extreme minority that doesn't 100% buy into a lot of the Lattimore hype, but that's also because Auburn played particularly well against him and thus that was my largest exposure to him.

Garcia almost brought SC back just for his mobility, and he would occassionally do some real work with Alshon. I thought it was a huge mistake when Spurrier benched him for Connnor Shaw in the 4th quarter in our regular season matchup. Huge mistake.

i agree that it was a mistake to throw shaw in.

also, i witnessed, live i might add, lattimore tear our defense a new arse hole on around 40 or so carries

Which incident would have got him kicked off the team at UGA? Keying the car? Getting caught underage drinking in the parking lot outside of his dorm? Late night rendezvous before the Peach Bowl? Or a combination of all? Just trying to figure out which of these super serious offenses would have/should have gotten him the boot.

No, but this isn't his first offense either.

quote:

he reportedly "showed up to a mandatory meeting drunk"

which is mind numbingly stupid to do for someone in his position, and he was also supposedly belligerent with coaches when confronted.

If he was a freshman it wouldn't be as big of a deal. But he has a long rap sheet, most of the time alcohol related, and I believe even had an assault charge. When the frick is this guy actually going to be punished!? It reminds me of the disparity of DUI laws between GA and LA. In GA on your first offense they practically throw you under the jail, in LA you can rack up about 10 without ever even seeing jail time.

Word is that SG had a concussion. Never was proven, but the trainers didn't want to take a chance at the time.
