First time I went to a BBQ joint in Texas the guy asked me if I wanted brisket and I said no I don't want a biscuit, I want hog. He gave me fricking ham. Not telling you where I went.
Since then I have come to see the light. Love me some Texas BBQ, it is the best. Still love all the other styles too.
Franklin BBQ might be the best food I have ever eaten.

Lots of Western/Lexington barbecue places do an odd ketchup-base cole slaw, which some of my friends swear by but I never really took to. Even though I grew up in Vicksburg, I never really thought about south Mississippi having its own type of cole slaw, but now that you describe it, I do remember that one the best, mainly because of a couple catfish and hushpuppy places that I loved. Their slaw was definitely peppery, with a touch of lemon or lime.

That place would be “Cock of the Walk” overlooking the Ross Barnett Reservoir, they have the best Cole slaw I have ever had. And I have had very similar down I-59 from Hattiesburg in and around Picayune.
The best sweet slaw I’ve had is Jerry’s on 49(The Igloo)
