I wish miles would quit. Spurrier did great things at SC and I think u nailed it. He woke up one day and realized it had gotten away from him and said screw it I don't want to put up with this anymore. Good for him every program he coached in college was better for having him there

So many empty shelves in his office.

And it is still amusing to me how bitter USC fans are about him. He brought their program to unprecedented heights for them in the modern era and they can't help but be mad at him. It's weird.

It's still amusing how uf fans are bitter about Muschamp.

I have nothing but love for HBC. He changed things in Columbia. He was never a recruiter to begin with he left that to the staff but his loyalty to the shitty staff that didn't recruit is what brought things to an end.

There is just as much shite in Columbia named after HBC as it is in swampville.

Glad Spurrier's old @ss is out of Columbia. We're in the cellar right now because of his (lack of) recruiting.

You're in the cellar because you're South Carolina. Spurrier is the only reason you ever had any success.

Spurrier's best recruiting classes were still below average in comparison to the elite SEC teams.

LSU or Alabama or Florida.

One of these are not like the others.

I know bama and uf can recruit QB's at an elite level. I've yet to see the same in BR.

Actually, as the story goes, the kid up at Louisville now, the QB, was found by Kurt Roper while at UF and he decommitted from UF when Muschamp and Roper were fired ... went to Louisville.

His star rating went from a low 3 to a high 4 after Roper found him ... and everyone tried to get him after he decommitted from UF.

The only reason McElwain stayed committed to SC after Spurrier quit was because of Roper.

Roper knows QBs.

That's yet to been seen at UF these days.

Jackson never committed to UF. Not sure where you are getting this but carry on.

I was listening to sports radio today ... they had an interview with Jackson where he said he was going to Florida until Muschamp and Roper were fired, but then he flipped to Louisville. He said McIlwain came in and tried to flip him back afterwards, and he visited there unofficially and gave them a chance, but stuck with Louisville in the end even though Auburn, UT, Bama, LSU and a bunch of others swooped in on him after Muschamp and Roper were fired.

Not a big deal. Just sayin ...

You might be able to find the interview on 107.5 The Game's website, Travis Haney's show from 4-7.

Spurrier really got the best of Bama with Saban quitting in the middle of the season last year and Spurrier winning all those SEC and National titles at South Carolina.

The funniest part is two years ago when OSU beat Bama Spurrier said maybe Saban should spend less time recruiting and more time coaching them up.

Then two weeks ago Spurrier said he (Spurrier) should have spent more time recruiting his last couple of years at USC.

Irony at its finest.

Are you serious? Bama and Florida had 7 drafted this year and we had 5 in a year where almost all of our talent was coming back. That's why we were pre-season favorites to win it all.

South Carolina had 3 drafted in a year where everyone was ready to jump ship.

Now just hire gus and you'll have 3 coaches to run in and out of games as the situation dictates.

Spurrier's ego ultimately derailed his tenure at Carolina, no doubt. He was so busy showing how he didn't have to do all the work that Saban did, that he ultimately let it get in the way of what he could accomplish.

Steve left, at bare minimum, an SEC Championship on the table in 2011 and 2013.

I am still a little bitter, that Muschamp set the program back as far as he did in his time as head coach. You will know the bitterness soon although USCe doesn't have the heights to fall from, that UF does.

Good for the head ball coach. I don't get the hate for Spurrier. The guy had a great career and he's now an ambassador for the school, who can play golf with the big money alums, go on speaking gigs on behalf of the school without the coaches taking away from what they're doing. I think it's a good move by UF. Don't see why people are hating on it.
