I do not agree, I found some great TRUE mexican places in Dallas area.
Even Mi Concina for example with Carne Asada, Barbacoa etc was awesome. TexMex is OK and has its place, but most TexMex is covered in Refried Beans and Yellow Cheese. Don Julios for example. Great food, but not real mexican.

I was Born and raised in baton rouge, so I am no expert on Mexican food, but years in Texas and have friends from Mexico who taught me the difference.

But there are many great Mexican restaurants in Dallas.

Satchels pizza 6?

The atmosphere is cool but their pizza is nothing special, definitely not the best in gainesville. Maradona burger with sweet potato fries at the Top or carnitas tacos at Cilantro Tacos would be my picks.

Can attest to the brisket at Fargo's....it's worth it

The AJAX Diner just has good food....nothing is bad there.

Blueberry cobbler at Strangebrew....while very good, I've had better

I just moved to Athens GA 6 months ago. (yes LSU fan in Athens GA) I actually live in Watkinsville home of Zack Mettenberger so there is some LSU here. Anyway, Have to try this Pulaski place. we love it here, great place to call home, but after 25 years in Dallas Texas I am missing two key things.
1. A quality(real) Mexican restaurant - Not the TexMex over cheesed stuff
2. BBQ.

Check out the BBQ thread on the Georgia board.

Eta, page 2 "Southern Soul opens new location" is thread title

The blueberry coffee is pretty unique. It takes on a whole new dynamic if you are familiar on how to cold brew coffee... the flavor really comes through and with a splash of cream it is fantastic. I can't drink it everyday i guess cause i'm stuck in my ways but it is definitely worth a try
you can order the beans from them if you can't make it to starkville

That is intriguing I'm tempted to order- I'd try all their coffees they sound interesting. I noticed there was a peaberry listed- I've never heard of that.

Archibalds is legit the best BBQ in the world.

It might have been a bad day, but when I ate there I wasn't impressed. Maybe the buildup couldn't be matched by reality, but the old Dreamlands was better in my opinion.

Athens is a great town. You'll actually fit right in, LSU fan and all.
