Here's my opinion:
Other than the Med school, it's a glorified Community College.
Fewer than 20,000; that's small compared to other SEC schools
Define vibrant
Factual
They're regressing, actually

Maybe it could dilute Alabama's influence in the league offices

would serve as a natural rival to Bama and Auburn

What do you guys think of potentially adding UAB?

You are everything that is wrong with the world right now

I'll take the bait in this ridiculous troll thread. You actually want a athletics program that is running seriously in the red to join the SEC? They have no athletic facilities to speak of and are completely reliant on the University of Alabama System. Academically speaking, it is a commuter school. It's redeeming quality is the UA medical school. If that's a reason to add a school, why not Tulane? It is the exact same description, except UT has a far greater academic reputation as a whole.

Because Paul Bryant Jr. said they couldnt have any

I think this really rubs butts in Tuscaloosa

Why not Southeastern Louisiana University?

Could you guys come up with better analysis than this. I get that you don't want them to join but you aren't telling me why. SECRant should be a place to exchange opinions and I'm asking for yours about UAB as a potential SEC member.
UAB athletics has to be subsidized by the university to the tune of roughly $20 million per year just to break even.

It is all part of the UA System. Why are you going to split hairs?

No wonder Paul Bryant, Jr. put the kabosh on giving UAB athletics any more $$$. shite, they can't even afford to maintain what they have now.

no, if the SEC reaches for a school like UAB it should be in a state we don't already have a footprint
This. ECU and ODU(please dear god shoot me) would be better

Im sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the only people I've noticed assocaiting UAB's medical school with UA are UA affiliated.
Nationally UAB is viewed as independent of UA and UAH, imo

But opinions aren't always reality.
It's the University of Alabama medical school. While it's fricking retarded that they get to claim it, they do.

I dunno guys, time to run with this. Just mix and match as needed. Any school will do.
It didn't get fully addressed in the other thread. ATU is an academic school with a student population. It is in a city and the SEC is there. Maybe it could dilute Alabama's influence. There is a basketball team and even a football field. What do you guys think of potentially adding ATU?
Future SEC Powerhouse

Do you want to try and disassociate the law school while you're at it?
Here's a link for your trouble.
