This is my favorite story about Jon Koncak and Joe Klein. We were behind SMU and Koncak wasn't too good at free throws. Sutton told Klein to foul Koncak.
Joe being the nice guy that he is told Koncak that he was going to foul him on the inbound. As soon as the official gave the ball to the SMU player to inbound Koncak took off to the other end of the court.
One other story from old SWC. Shelby Metcalf had that southern draw as some of you remember. He had a player whose grades were all F's and one D. Shelby told him "son, it looks like you've been spending too much time in one subject."

Hell no. The SWC had run its course. We'd all be broke if it were still around. Hopefully the SEC can keep the sips from fricking this conference up, but I'm not holding my breath. Bringing the sips into a conference is like putting a socialist on the city council or an LGBT person on the school board - the first step toward institutional ruin.

Yeah Shelby Metcalf had a lot of good quotes, Abe Lemons also. People should look them up if you want a good laugh.
The old SWC had some interesting characters for coaches back in the 70s/80s.
Abe Lemons
Shelby Metcalf
Guy Lewis
Eddie Sutton
Strollen Nolan Richardson

Who was the guy at SMU that would rip some arse?
and Guy Lewis at Houston could have been the ambassador to some large country
