Damn I was watching the game while at dinner and didn't even notice that play. Was hoping to find a vid because I come here and everyone is complaining.

The "hitting a defenseless receiver" call on Vandy makes me want to stop watching football. The guys poor fitting helmet (due to his hair) made that hit look a lot worse then it was. The hit was beautiful. The way you hit a guy. The receiver stood up talking shite. Should be an instant reason to pick a flag up. Pussification of football.
I can't be too upset about that call being that I'm over 50, having never played competitive football and can still go from my living room to the bathroom without getting lost along the way

That's exactly what I said when it happened. The whole defenseless receiver bit is stupid. You hit him hard when he's "defenseless" and the next time he defends himself. Hell, he has the option of defending himself, if he wants to, do it and don't catch the damn ball! It's like throwing a penalty for the d back being where he needs be.
I agree that call and the PI no-call towards the end were the two calls I didn't agree with. If the hit on Cunningham was a play that our defender did and he was flagged for it, I would've been pretty upset. It wasn't really a helmet-2-helmet hit either....

I could care less about Vandy and I'm still pissed. Refs already robbing teams of wins. They straight up allowed that TD to be taken away.
What TD? They didn't take away any TD.....they took away a reception. Our DB would've tackled Vandy's WR after the reception, around the 30-35 yd line. Vandy was down by 4 pts, so they needed to score a TD. No one knows if they would've done that, with a shortened field. They tried that earlier in the game, but only got FG chances out of it. The lone TD they had was a 80-yd bomb and a busted assignment by our safety...

1785 posts for a Vandy/USC game thread? I'd say people were excited for football to be back.
Congrats USC. Hope Shaw is okay. Kid is a warrior.

Truth.
Nice job USCe, and a tough loss for Vandy.

Good game Cocks. You guys are have a string of luck with officiating lately. This may be your year. Between last night and the baseball game you had with the Hogs a while back, you seem to be getting big breaks from the judges at the end of games that are helping you win games. Sometimes a team needs these kinds of breaks to go all the way. Maybe this is your year.

I agree the PI was a missed call, but that would have in no way guaranteed Vandy a win. It's not like they were moving the ball up and down the field all night..

When does SEC football begin??

The end result of the game may very well have been the same if the PI was called, but COME ON...I mean how much more obvious can a PI get? I'm not a ref or anything but I just can't see how somebody who has managed to work their way up to refereeing a nationally-televised game in the most popular conference in the nation can miss a call like that, especially when the game is on the line.
I know it happens every year, but god I hope I don't see that shite pulled on Arkansas again this year. I don't know if my heart can handle it.

The receiver wasn't defenseless. He wasn't stretched out going for a high throw. He had the ball in his hands and had it against his chest.
I think they ruled that the DB launched himself, which is a different issue, but still I didn't think that was penalty-worthy.

No doubt, it was a missed call. No denying that.
There is no such thing as an ugly win on the road in the SEC.

It was obvious, alright. But SEC officials do this all the time. Florida's only touchdown of the game against LSU in 2009 included an even more blatant case of PI, in that case offensive PI. There are a multitude of other examples. SEC officials are total garbage, period.

You will. If not this year, then next, or whenever. It will happen, so you might as well be prepared for it. Just like the BS personal foul call y'all got against Florida in 2009 or the BS pass interference y'all got in the end zone against Alabama late in the 2007 game, it will happen.

SEC football is not for the faint of heart.

SCar gonna get skull dragged in Tiger Stadium this year. Y'all did not look like a top ten team.
Neither did we when we lost/won against Tennessee in 2010, but we finished 11-2 and in the top 10. It happens, especially on the road. People are acting like USC is the first good team to go into Nashville and win ugly. It happens almost every freaking year to someone, often multiple teams.

Thanks to that ref, we'll never know for sure if Vandy would have scored a TD after that, but it was definitely a blown call.
I do agree that South Carolina's defense was very tough & it would have been difficult to get a TD on them late in the game, but that blown call meant they would have no chance to win.
