Florida State isn’t that great: • pulled away late from 6-6 G5 team • needed prayer to beat 6-6 rival • 3-point win vs. 4-8 conference foe • lost by 10 at home oh wait shoot, this is my Alabama file one second…..

Not so fast!

Aggy still thinks they should be one of the forth teams since they try to play in the SEC.

I agree. FSU would be the underdog to all the top 4. Ohio State. Georgia and even Oregon.

While this is true imo.. it is also true that FSU got totally screwed. Thankfully this issue will get resolved next season, but I do feel for those kids.

Underdog logic is irrelevant. Bama & Washington were underdogs this weekend. By the “underdog” logic neither team should be playing.

And Bama beat Arkansas 24-21, USF 17-3, Auburn 27-24, lost to TX @ home and you are comparing what FSU did against similar competition? Oh and by the way FSU beat every team they played.

Maybe Alabama is one the best five teams but this year they did not earn being one of the four best teams.

Had Bama gone 13-0 with Milroe being out the last two games and they were left out of the playoff, what would the reaction have been?

Answer my question.

ETA: Here, I'll make this easy for you:

quote:

Top 7 Team’s Overall Opponent

Record: Alabama 97-60 (.617)
Texas 90-67 (.573)
Ohio State 82-62 (.569)
Georgia 87-69 (.557)
Michigan 83-74 (.528)
Washington 75-70 (.517)
FSU 77-79 (.493)

No, this is dumb. Just an awful, completely illogical take. I don’t understand how people on this board struggle with basic logic.

Florida State beat all the teams on their schedule including a 21 point beatdown of a team that Bama beat by only 14 at home.

You can’t control who you play as far as where they are ranked when you play them. They answered the bell every time out. Did Bama?

Your opponents records tell some of the story but not all of it. It is quite possible that a 5-7 team is as a good as 8-4 team depending on many different factors i.e. injuries, schedule strength, luck, geography, timing etc.

The committee ignored two factors in the criteria they supposedly used to make this decision -

1. Head to head matchups - Texas vs. Alabama
2. Comparative results - LSU vs. Florida State and Florida State vs. Alabama

They apparently thought that for the first 4 teams, they would apply the “best overall team” principle, but then for rankings 5-25 and putting FSU above Georgia, results and conference championships mattered. It’s so incredibly inconsistent.
