That was in 2014. So it lines up with me saying he wanted to quit at the end of 2014.

I don't really think that means he quit because of Tennessee, especially considering how many games he coached afterwards, but I can see where Prof picked that up.

Maybe not but going 0-3 against Butch Jones is a terrifying thought

I will concede that. That would lead any man to insanity.

Right but we were the next opponent after LSU. He didn't want to go out losing to us, imo, although he didn't state that alright.

As for the article, the one posted isn't the one I'm thinking of but I can't find it either. It was what 7 years ago? It shocked me because of the candor. We were not a good team under Jones and while the 2014 game was luck, we were likely going to win 2015 too (we did but I mean had he coached it).

At any rate, the odd thing about Spurrier is that I think most of us liked him at South Carolina even when he had SC humming. He was still a smart arse but he wasn't a hated rival and he had a little wisdom behind all that cockiness.

I'm glad we honored him at Neyland not long after.

The loss above happened on Nov 1 2014. Spurrier retired on Oct 12, 2015. For the above to be true the main reason he retired has to be a loss almost a year earlier.

I'm sorry but that doesn't add up.

Georgia State has a real players coach and great at in game calling. I am surprised he hasn't been grabbed up by a bigger P5 team yet.

So just admit Tennessee didn't make Spurrier quit.

I will when you dig up the 7 year old article and can show me otherwise. And it has to be the one I'm talking about.

Prof...

You took the L on this one. It's ok.

He coached a whole half season after the game mentioned in the article. You then stated Tennessee was the next game. It was not.
