3-1 with two wins being scrimmages (one of which they almost lost to Mercer) and the other being against possibly the worst power-5 team in the country. Their offense was nonexistent against the one real team they've played.

Yet all it took was a blowout win against the worst Missouri team in 30 years to have people clamoring about being 10-1 going into the Bama game.

Someone explain

Not having basketball season leads to increased optimism for football. It's all they've got, let them have it.

Know how I know you didn't watch that game? Not once watching that game was any Auburn fan worried about losing it. We just were placing bets on who would fumble next.

You still have 4 weeks before getting that arse spanked. Just hang in there, it'll happen soon enough.

They held Clemson to 14 points and kept the game within 1 score. Until they lose, let them have the hype.

If we lose to you guys at home, no one is gonna be upset. It's par for the course. If you lose to us, then Jordan-Hare stadium is officially Kyle Field East and your reign over our domain is over. I'd be more worried about that game as an Auburn fan.

They didn't blow a 34 point 4th quarter lead

or see Nicholls State tie their game in the 4th

or have to come from behind to beat ULL.

Any more questions?

That wasn't just "one real team." Clemson is arguably the best team in the country and they went on the road and lost by 8 while holding Clemson to 14. Not saying this warrant hype but there's really no reason to discount it.

Well, to start off, we never almost lost to mercer. The sole reason it wasn't the blowout people expected it to be was because of four fumbles by our WR corps. Granted, that shouldn't have happened, but its naïve to think Mercer was even close to sniffing a w.

I completely agree.
Offense that game was atrocious because of how bad our line played. We gave up eleven sacks.

Luckily for us, that is easily the best defensive line (and defense as a whole) we have to play until Bama. Maybe even the best. Seriously, Clemson is good.

Even with how bad the offense was, we still only lost by eight points on the road. To Clemson.

Our defense seriously is elite. The best we've had in a long time. The loss of Adams and Lawson has looked nonexistent so far, as we rank in the top ten in major defensive statistics. Granted, we haven't played great offense outside of Clemson (and mizzou even), but there aren't many offenses in the SEC as good as them.

But, the true reason some people are seeing us going 10-1 into the iron bowl is because the offense is improving. Specifically, the line, wide receivers, and Stidham. I knew coming into this season Stidham would be rusty.. he hadn't played ball since 2015. He has completed over 80% of his passes and passed for over 500 yards his last two games. The line is starting to gel right now. Recievers, against a bad Mizzou defense, got open and caught passes. In other words, we did what we were supposed to against a team we were far better than.

Secondly, there isn't too stiff an sec gauntlet this year. Georgia will be the next legitimately good team we play, and we get them at home. So that isn't to crazy to think Auburn could win out until the Iron Bowl.

Finally, I thin people remember how last year, after abysmal performances against Clemson and Texas AM, how the team seriously improved and was a top ten team while healthy. Auburn had a 6 game winning streak, starting with LSU.

I guess we'll see this weekend

Edit: By our defense alone we could go 9-3. That's how good they are

Like 9/10 posts by AU people are them saying they hope Gus gets wrapped up in this shoe company scandal

I'm not really seeing any hype

Our offense looks better against shitty teams, and during the same period, every other team in the conference besides UGA and Bama look like total shite. So to the extent we're upgrading the outlook, it's more about the opportunity posed by so many teams (including us) looking mediocre

It is really more Auburn defense + worst SEC in two decades + favorable home schedule = good season record.

No one really believes we are a great team. It's just that we suck less than everyone else other than bammer.

That said......

14-1 'ship bitch!

I haven't watched you guys much. How has your line played since Clemson? Is it improving?
