Tennessee doesn't need to (and probably isn't) firing Jones this year period, even if he goes 3-9. The athletic department couldn't withstand that right now. Next year is the year he is ultimately judged. I'm an Ole Miss alumni, but my family is full of die-hard UT fans and grads so I know a good bit about them. This thread is actually pretty pathetic and dumb TBH.

Why would Grumor give up his job at ESPN where he makes $103 million a year?

He wouldn't. I heard ESPN just gave him a $85 million dollar bonus on top of it.

Gruden makes like 9 million a year working for espn. Why would he ever leave that kinda deal.

They seem to think Peyton will come back as QB Coach for $300,000 or so...

Clay Travis says it's a done deal.
Gruden was seen buying an orange Fanta at a convenience store earlier today,

Grudges makes 6.4 million a year.

That is the number.

He's not leaving that easy job.

To have to go back and deal with high school guys and recruiting and college atmosphere.

Jamarcus Russell lead Oakland Raiders to win over Jon Gruden's Tampa Bay Bucs.

WHO WOULD WANT JON GRUDEN AS THEIR COACH.

Jon Gruden isn't going to take a paycut to work in college or the NFL-- and even if the NFL is offering 10 million a year or something outlandish, its a pretty massive paycut in terms of dollars per hour-- getting millions (I would assume) to do maybe at most 40 hours a week with probably 10 weeks off a year vs. 100 hours a week every Fall and then 40 hours a week the rest of the year with maybe a month off is no contest as long as the easier job is paying him enough to live comfortably.

Add to the fact that Jones's buyout is $4 Million and UT would have to be probably in the $10-12 Million dollar a year range, Gruden is a pipe dream. Some dumb NFL team will pay him that and give him full control, just so he can screw it all up.

Our game is over so you can get the straight from me. Even before a game if question is posed seriously I will try to answer...its only when the thread is started like a hand grenade tossed that I start my hillbillie/overalls/corn mash drinking/cuzin fricking routine Ahhh I feel better though typing that.

Ok...lets look at Vols schedule, shall we? You travel to Bama, UK, Mizzou...so I could see two losses there and we are assuming you pull upset against UGA. First things first VS...you need to beat Arkansas...we need a trifecta this saturday...UF beats Ole Miss, UGA beats Bama and you guys beat Arkansas....lets show that the east is coming back strong. UK beats AU on a Thursday night, we play LSU in two weeks etc etc so we have the chance to have media start taking notes.

This. He gets paid more to sit on the couch for most of the year to do nothing than having to deal with the stress of being a college football head coach.

Just out of curiosity, what do you think Jones's buyout is?

I thought I read somewhere that if TN canned him this year it would be 10 million.?
