Yep.. and then folded with it. Like I said.. Lsu's success came with Bama at it's worst in 50 years. Maybe they won't fold as bad this year while Bama continues it's meteoric rise from the ashes, back to the pinnacle that is Bama and their rightful place into the elite of college football.
Seriously, are you SURE you don't want to be a comic? I haven't laughed that hard in YEARS.

I'll merely repeat what I said in another post on the Tiger Rant forum.
When Saban left, everyone said LSU would slide back into mediocrity. Ok, they struggled last season...but everyone said that's what LSU would do immediately after Nick left. Didn't quite play out that way, did it?
When Skip retired, we heard that was it for the glory days of LSU baseball. So far, I'd say that Paul Mainieri has done a better "rise from the ashes" than Nick has.
When Dale Brown left, we heard that was it for LSU basketball. Hell, even John Brady managed an SEC title and a Final Four.
Slow down before you go putting Bama back "in its rightful place" slick. Show me you can win an SEC title before you go trying for anything else. Remember, the only reason that you made it into a BCS bowl last year was because Florida got elevated to the title game. Lord knows, ya'll did such a GREAT job of proving to everyone that you belonged there against Utah.

Not really a disappointment, at least not really to me. I know there are LSU fans out there with mixed feelings about that, but if I could see BCS bowls, or conference titles, that could work for me. I just don't think it's all that fair to use the # of NCs as a measuring stick for a program IMO. If there are no signs of significant decline in a program, then I wouldn't think there would be much to worry about.

I can agree with that...
I do not think the "newer" fans realize that if last year would have happened in early 90's we would have been dancing in the streets.
It shows how far we have come as a football program that people get this pissed over a 8-5 season.
I expect LSU to remain competitive in football but the SEC is tough and as long as you have a young QB you struggle.
I looked up freshmen QB's in the SEC and only Erik Ainge won 10 games as a freshmen starter in the SEC. The rest were 8-5 or worse, which to me is a good sign cause these teams improved in the second year.

I think some people got pissed because of how the season ended. We lost our last 4 SEC games--3 at home--and when I look at November 2007 and all of 2008, we only won 1 SEC home game in that period. That was pretty much the problem and that would irk any LSU fan regardless of what their expectations are. TS of all places in college football turned into a home field for the opposing team in the 2nd half of 2008. That is what fans should start to think about. Our performance at home for us will either make or break most of our season, because LSU does not appear to have many issues on the road. LSU has not had a losing record on the road during the Miles era, so if we can keep that in tact and protect home field like we are expected to, things should work out

LSU fans seem to have found 1 player to blame all the troubles on.
Last season was messed up before season began with RP situation.
It only progressively got worse, CO-Defensive Coordinators, a Redshirt Freshmen QB, lack of running game, lack of tackling, missed assignments, miscommunication, and Tiger Stadium was not an advantage. The fans left most games at halftime or before. It was sad being in our stadium and feeling out numbered by opposing fan base.

Hopefully a relatively quiet offseason could be a sign of something a little better on the field.

5 years into the Miles era LSU needs to get back to playing up to the level of talent that Miles admittedly has done a great job of recruiting. I personally think that last year was an aberration and that LSU will be much better both this year and in the foreseeable future. If not, you might want to change Miles' title from "Head Coach" to "Head Recruiter."

How badly does it reflect on Les
What ?? The man has had three top 5 teams ,two SEC West titles,an SEC title and a National Title.
Miles' tenure at LSU has been outstanding. There is nothing 'reflecting badly' on it.

True. Les needs an I-Bowl trophy.

I really didn't expect to catch you too. It was realllly slow last night and I just threw out that duck. Fully expected this one to die a quick death with a played out angle, but I got some nibbles and set the hook hard.

But yeah.. at least Media days now start and there will actually be something to talk about besides the same rehashed crap and which 17 y.o. kid is going where.

Here's to hoping we get some quips and lines out of media days but I am not holding my breath. It seems like Slive is trying to turn us into the No Fun League, Jr since Queefin doesn't know how to act. (Queefin is like that pubescent kid that keeps crossing the line and has no idea just how dumb he looks...then everyone gets jacked.) Hell, this might be the first media days we don't get any cracks out of Spurrier.
