that Nick Saban is still the reason we are winning because he still have a few of his players here or there, how long does Ole Miss have to wait to get credit for Nutt being a good coach.

I think Nutt is a good coach and I think he will be gone after this year as well. No need to hang around and rebuild a talentless Ole Miss program in a few years when he can do the same making a lot more some where else. We all know who his agent is and you can never accuse Sexton of not trying to make money either.

fwiw.. Nick had 2 SEC championships in 5 years. How badly does it reflect on Les if he can't match that, what with being left with a #1 and #2 recruiting class and carrying on to have top rated classes after that too.

that is not an easy thing to do...1 SEC and 1 BCS Championship in 5 years is OK in my book and the program is still on track to win more in the future

Not the best way to compare. I think you'll agree with me that the SEC is a tad diff now then it was then. Saban won the SEC once in his first two years at LSU but may have none to show for in his first 3 years at Bama.

Saban won an SEC championship during his 2nd year at LSU.

Saban has been in Tuscaloser for two years and still hasn't won shite and he probably won't win shite in his 3rd year in Tuscaloser either. What does that say about bammer?

It is more telling about the quality of the SEC than anything else.

Sounds like double standards are being used. One set for Saban the other for miles. Bama fans have become real hypocrites

ironically because Bama was on probation and couldn't represent the West...

Bama and Ole Miss both have double standards. They want to trash Miles in a heartbeat but not use the same criteria to bash Saban or Nutt.

Nick didn't have Bama to contend with while he was here...if you guys would go back to sucking, Les could have already done more.

Not that you'll understand it, but...the reason there's a difference is because Leslie took over a winning program in a state that has a single university that gets recruits (as most of the other football programs in Louisiana are a joke)and has had similar results to Saban.

Nutt, on the other hand, took over a program that did not win a SEC game the year before and brought them to the Cotton Bowl. When you win with a team that lost for four straight years it is a bit more impressive than maintaining what was already in place with someone else's players (known as the "Coker Technique"). Time will tell if Nutt can win with his own players (which will say more about his recruiting than his coaching) as opposed to Leslie, who came in after the Saban Express and is at the only university talented kids in Louisiana would even think about going to to play football in state.

This thing got stumply legs to it. I figured this angle had been all played out and I wouldn't get any bites.

Is there anything Ole Miss fans can't rationalize?

I told you that you wouldn't understand it. Let me make it simple (I wish I had pictures...you might get it then). Losing for four years and then winning = more credit given to the coach. Winning for five years (including one championship) and then winning for four years (including one championship) is more a reflection on the program than it is the coach (who had the perfect job that Saban created gift-wrapped for him).

I cannot believe I'm actually taking up for Saban as much as I can't stand the douche.

Here's something you don't understand, and, to be honest, its a little surprising that you don't. If you've ever learned one thing from all of Ole Miss' suckage it should be that winning consistently is very difficult. Miles deserves more credit than you give him, but, no matter, his record speaks for itself. Nutt was very lucky that Orgeron, crappy head coach that he was, is such a good recruiter -- specifically Nutt was damn lucky to have Snead as his quarterback.

On the other hand, we are talking about Ole Miss. Perhaps leading Ole Miss to a bowl win is more impressive than leading any school to a national championship.

Well... To be fair. He did have us in a position to play for a NC. But Tebow...

Point being he far exceeded my expectations for the mess he inherited.
