John Heisman and Bobby Dodd are the 2 really big names, but Peoper Rodgers was also pretty good, he launched Steve Spurrier’ career…

Heisman coached a bunch of places and Dodd retired in 1966. GT might be the second best team in Atlanta, but Morehouse might be better.

GT did have Bobby Ross for a couple of years, and he delivered an MNC. Ross was a great coach, but they couldn't keep him.

If they fired him already it can only mean they've already reached a deal with Deion Sanders.

Does GA Tech have an easy major for athletes like SEC schools do, or do they have to be engineers?

No they don’t. And they all have to take calculus

Bobby Ross would like a word

which reminds me, it was so obvious that Bobby Ross should have been the guy Alabama looked to to replace Gene Stallings, it flew right over their heads

Yes, they have Management. I’ve had 2 girls go to run there and both majored in Management

Tech is in a terrible spot. Their alumni support and home attendance rivals Vanderbilt. They don’t prioritize football and there’s nothing that suggests they will. They do have a mgmt degree but it’s fairly rigorous. They did manage to keep stephon marbury and Reggie Ball eligible so who knows. They have G5 level facilities and athlete support systems.

It’s a long road back for them. Not saying they can’t but they can’t with their current commitment.

Why not Chadwell? I think Chadwell would take the job and he'd kill it there, IMO. If the admin isn't the problem, that is.

here's what Ga Tech should do

use the lessons learned at Duke from hiring Fred Goldsmith and then later Steve Spurrier, and also Ga Tech's hiring of Bobby Ross

Goldsmith, Spurrier, Ross, all real down to earth guys. Smartasses maybe. Great. Don't fit in with the hoity toity elitist douchebags of Duke and Ga Tech. Et cetera. Guys ready to tell the admins to shove it, and the admins know it and avoid it. Because the dude connects to the kids and they need him, because he will win or die trying.

If Ga Tech instead hires some kiss arse, they might as well just call Collins back and rehire him. I don't know Collins' story, admittedly. But I'm guessing he was "a safe hire." And they were dead in the water the minute they ever hired any "safe hires"
