Except it isn't.
It's just as much of a violation to pay recruits now as it ever has been.

Bama has been in trouble in the 90’s and early 2000’s for paying players to play. Then bama goes from 7-5 in Saban 1st year to powerhouse over night. I’m sure you think that was clean right?
How many times are you going to say the same thing to only read this again:
WHERE DID ANYBODY SAY BAMA WAS CLEAN?

No sir it's not legal. Try again.

Not under the guise of NIL. NIL is the same concept of bag men. Now the bag man don’t have to be in the shadows anymore.

Did Texas A&M get top recruiting class before NIL? No. Wonder why? When NIL was available Texas A&M took advantage of that and got a top recruiting class. What about Alabama when Nick became Alabama HC, he didn't get top recruit for like four years! Then boom! Got 17 or so 4* and got the number one recruiting class. his record wasn't impressive too. Then he started winning big since the recruiting class were way up! That was not with NIL or transfer portal being modified like this past year. How was Fisher obvious? He followed the NIL rules and Texas rules. So you have no cause against Fisher and Texas A&M. But there should have been a an investigation on Saban and Alabama when he was able to get 17 or so 4* that was only getting 4 the most during his time at Alabama. You need to look back at that before pointing out what Fisher did. NIL wasn't available back then for Nick Saban.

Highly doubt you remember what that was like since you were busy duking it out with fricking Kansas

It's amazing to me that people like you are still completely oblivious to how easily this can happen legally. It's not the 80s when interest rates were high(but it might be coming back soon).
Getting a loan is so easy these days, you pretty much gotta be a total frick up to not qualify for one. But most players might not even need one to start with because of all the legal money they are given each year.
Players were eligible for about $26k+ in money, ranging from grant money(where all those pictures of recruits holding up a bunch of cash typically come from, you can tell by their timing). And then the schools are allowed to give them money legally for anything from housing, clothing, food and even travel money to go home on. And let's not for get the stipend money they also get now.
On top of all that, they are still eligible for student loans if they choose.
And if that's not enough, vehicles the players drive are one of the most monitored things at schools. If a player drives a new car on campus, the AD will know about it immediately.
So if there is cheating going on, you're going to need something better than someone was driving a new car.

No, and you can’t either.

Saban said Bama is clean. Didn’t pay not 1 recruit lol

Anyone with any common sense can see what happened with A&M’s class. It’s just a matter of whether you A&M fans want to admit it. Jimbo is a good recruiter, but you don’t go from getting 4 to 5 5 star players your first 4 years combined to getting 8 five stars in one class, while that class is rated by far the highest rated class ever in paper. Saban back to his LSU days has pulled in highly rated class after class. Jimbo came out like a fool today, and acted indignant due to being truthfully called out. There are other coaches, such as Kirby Smart, that have made several comments about the need for NIL to be gotten under control. Saban’s just the only one to have enough guts to name names openly instead of behind closed doors. In October, in Tuscaloosa, it will be a bloodbath for A&M. Saban always calls off the dogs to keep from running up a score; I don’t know if he will in that game, however.

How about Alabama when there was no NIL when Saban was hired> He didn't get good recruits for about 3 or 4 years then boom top recruits that was well more than Alabama average of 3 to 4 * recruits to 17 4* recruits and he wasn't even winning either. was averaging 5 to 6 wins a year that time. Why all of a suddenly getting top recruiting class that was way beyond normal for Alabama. I didn't even know that until someone pointed that out. NIL changed everything. So, Texas A&M took advantage of that and was able to get the top recruiting class. What did Fisher and Texas A&M do wrong? Saban and Alabama never had good record and high recruiting class for those 3 or 4 years before he hit big and that time there was no NIL. So, how did he do it? There was no NIL back then.

intent of NIL was for guys to profit once they got to campus not to use it to RECRUIT. Once again saban is a step ahead and warning people and people get all in their feelings and cry that hes whining. All he was saying is that it needs to be regulated and whats even funnier is every time he speaks on a critical issue the end result is never good for everyone else
Posted on 5/20/22 at 4:51 am to Jjdoc
Saban may be right, but his whining and being hypocritical is what pisses a lot of people off. Does he really want us to believe he has done things 'the right way?' Especially after tampering with one of our players
Bull shite

I see Saban retiring within 2 years. Probably right before OU and Texas get to the conference. He doesn't need the money and his competitive fire is being doused by the new NIL game.
Not his fault, he simply doesn't have the amount of big money boosters as USC, Texas, A&M, etc.
So when he goes the next two years without sniffing the playoffs...he gone. End of an era.
