I'll be happy with 8-4 next year
Me too...I think this is something that really separates AU and Bama fans...there is no set of circumstances where Bama fans would be happy with an 8-4 season. It what makes them intolerable at times but since they pay the bills with their support, it is also what sets the bar so consistently high for them...and why I would be shocked if Bama doesn't win another one within 10 years...would actually be surprised if they don't win another within 5.

Fourth in the West this past year was a nine win season, I'll take that in a heartbeat.

If you open your checkbooks, maybe you can repeat...

You forgot 2 other areas:
SEC:We have Slive in our hip pockets. He is ALL IN!
NCAA:They are clueless,Emmert(Sabans buddy)is a douche. They dont even know they are ALL IN.
Auburn to repeat as BCS Champion.
There FIFY

Way to back up your argument.
Read he OP. Also, you haven't developed the depth to handle losing the Heisman trophy winner, almost your entire D-Line, and taking every team you face best shot. Your oline is going to get destroyed every week. Your dline is going to get no pressure.
You will get destroyed in the trenches and you won't have Cam to save you.

Keep it up... you might be able to convince yourself

Look at what he has around him. He doesn't have to be great.

He looked solid in every appearance with the exception of being thrown in, under tremendous pressure, into a hungry wolfpack at the end of the AU game. Dude was lights out in the Spring game and will have been under Saban's wing for 2 1/2 years by the time he takes the field. ZM, if he starts, will be a new qb in a new system and to date, he hasn't stepped on a college football field. I'm not saying McBeiber is going to be great but I also don't think he has to be...and he is totally capable of being the game manager type, smart QB that McGinger was in 2009. I don't see how the 2 are comparable at all.

Here is the honest truth that anyone who follows AU recruiting could see coming. Tuberville's last good recruiting class at AU just finished their last year at AU. Now, the bulk of your team (the juniors and seniors) come from those last few really shitty (by SEC standards) classes that ultimately got Tubby fired. AU has talent, but it will all be heavily within the true freshman, RS freshmen and true sophomores next season. Combine that with the fact that the offensive line and QB are the 2 positions where experience and chemistry matters most and there are big issues. In any other conference, AU would be a solid team contending for a conference title. But in the SEC West, you will be the 5th best team and play almost all of your tough games on the road. History does not always predict the future, but all the issues AU has combine to predict a very average year where 6-7 wins would be an accomplishment.

The D-Line is going to be solid...but will drop off. If you think there is no depth on the DL though, read the OP...stacked. The only question is chemistry. Our OL might get pushed around a bit..that's the wildcard. It's hard to overstate the value of the veteran OL to the team. I would imagine that we will shift to more quickly developing plays to mitigate this...but we'll see.
I think AU falls from being the friggin National Championship winner...all the way to an 8-4 3rd or 4th place West finisher. I think this is realistic. You can even make a case (I'll disagree) that MSU will be better....but sorry, Ole Miss? Fail.

Monticello, I happen to think you are the smartest poster on this board...and you make good points. I am going to disagree, though.
Upper classman (or Redshirt SO) projected starters: OT Brandon Mosley, OT AJ Green, QB R.So. Barrett Trotter, Onterrio McCalleb, Phillip Lutzenchirken, , Darvin Adams, Emory Blake, Travante Stallworth, (even though Dyer doesn't qualify here, I think it's safe to say that we shouldn't count the fact that he's a true Soph against him).
D: Nosa Eguea, Eltorro Freeman, Darren Bates, T'Sharvan Bell, and Mike McNeil.
If you expanded that to players expected to see the field every game, the list would be much longer.

ETA did McCarron do something spectacular in a game I wasn't watching?
2009 called, and wants its prediction on QB play back.
