Sure, but it's still shitty to just throw it in the trash if that's what happened. Throw it in a box for him to come pick up.

No. He doesn't actually graduate until Saturday, and his diploma will be mailed to him in a month or so.

Saban is my least favorite coach and Bama is my least favorite team, like I despise both of them.

But, this whole case brings up a point that bothers me sometimes.

You have a spoiled athlete who is obviously dumber than he is spoiled getting a free education. At the same time some brainiac kid is working fast food or retail for minimum wage because he couldn't get into college.

I wasn't an athlete in college but knew that you could not transfer to another team in the same conference. This long-standing fact/rule seems to be lost on this idiot and his idiot family. It's not just Bama either - it is a conference rule that I think every conference enforces.

Did I say they did? I'm just including things that are easily replaceable, in your opinion, because they are made of paper.

Hmmm...

Throwing stuff in a box takes more time than carrying it to the trash?

If we knowingly trashed a bunch of sentimental, ahem, "papers" and whatnot of his, then I think that is not cool.

But if he quit the team, and was told to clean out his locker, and didn't, then what is the big deal?

Yes, I agree. This story makes it sound like he expressed interest in transferring and was told not to come back. But again, 2 sides to every story.

Actually you can. There are players on a few SEC teams this year that transferred from Alabama. Alvin Kamara at Tennessee is probably the most high profile one. There's just a process you have to follow, and you have to sit out a year. That option was available to Smith. He wasn't happy about that option, so he's lashing out.

I don't agree with throwing his crap in the garbage...but who's to say it wasn't a teammate who views Smith as a "sell-out"?

What if Smith did it himself and took the picture to help his chances of winning an appeal? Moreover, if he has already told the coaching staff he isn't coming back...why should he be allowed in the facility for Alabama football players to train and eat? Are you in or out? If you're out...be out. Don't say you're out and then act upset that others treat you like you're not a part of the program, that was your choice not theirs.

Smith using his momma to blow this up in the media says a lot about him IMO. When I was 21 I wasn't hiding behind my mom's skirt anymore.

I'm saying that the things that he specifically listed are things that are easily replaceable. The rest he was pretty vague on.

4 days?

In the letter, Maurice Smith said he met with Alabama head coach Nick Saban and informed him of his decision to transfer on June 16.

“On Friday, June 17, I arrived at the athletic facility locker room to find my locker cleaned out and all of my personal belongings in the trash (photo attached) underneath trash,” Maurice Smith wrote.
