Man I hope he can play. JMHO but if Slade can't go, I'd really like to see someone other than Smitty back there returning punts.

Can we take this to the Bama board?
If you want a real convo. - I’m just sayin’ . . . dis ain’t da place.

I'm a little surprised Smith would return punts with the talent on the roster.

Oh no! How will Bama win without Slade Bolden?

When Slade rolled his ankle they basically just tried a couple of different guys back there - Smith 2 times, Surtain once. Smith took the 1st one he got and almost ran it back.

Why would you say that?

I like him, but not a game changer. Serviceable at best.

They will definitely miss his 3 receptions for 15 yards with 0 yards after catch; or, the occasional punt return for 4 yards.

We are so spoiled by having Ruggs, Waddle, Devonta, and Jeudy on the same roster

I think they can manage with Billingsly taking up the "slack" on offense. It's not like SB is a difference maker on offense. Punt return is a bit more worrisome and an injury to D. Smith would be devastating. Just have someone fair catch and not worry about the return yards for the most part.

I think in those situations (at least historically), Saban puts a ball-control player back there just to field the punt.
I'm surprised Smith had the green light to even attempt a return, or maybe he didn't

Saban on Slade Bolden (ankle): "He's gonna be out probably for a day or two and just see how he responds. Those twisted ankles are a little bit hard to sometimes figure out how a guy will respond."
