It's a cultural thing in the south, which is changing. It's a two-fold issue. We have a lot of conservative christians around here and the stereotypical gay guy is the opposite of the ideal southern man.
I fancy myself sophisticated (which I'm not), so I tend to avoid prejudiced people myself.

I don't get homophobia. I really don't. Ok, I do, but I don't get the moral high ground.
Its not like everybody these days doesn't have sex for fun. And its not like everybody doesn't PIIHB now and then.
As far as "lifestyle", I think these days you'll find homos who are more monogamous than a lot of heteros.
But then again, I'm uppity and enlightened and intellectual and semi-liberal.
