While perusing a few lines like the drunken degenerate that I am, I came across a few interesting numbers about Nick Saban that was somewhat interesting:

-Since 2008, the average point spread for a Nick Saban-led team is just under -21 points.

-43 of his 162 wins (or over ¼) have come while covering at least a -21 point spread.

Madness.

For our Texas A&M friends out there: Jimbo Fisher is 24-15 ATS when favored by 21+. No other coach really comes close to that cover % since 2010.

It's an impressive stat. Beating teams by three plus touchdowns at a rate as such is certainly an outlier. I'm guessing Famous Jameis accounts for the relative majority of Jimbo's 24-15 record.

That's an important stat for odds makers and professional gamblers, that I'm pretty sure they already know. Some coaches tend to back off the cupcakes, while others keep their foot on the gas.

We probably fail to cover against a cupcake a couple of times every season because Saban basically shuts the offense down after our first 3Q TD. Then the backup defense will give up a late TD and the 35-3 halftime score ends up being a 45-13 final on a Bama -34 spread.

I wonder how many spreads he missed out on by throttling down.

Still doing some initial research as we head into the season. I’m terrible though. So I dont know if I would listen to anything I say.

Everybody is, that's why I asked lol. Kidding...slightly. I just started scanning lines the other day. LSU should roll UCLA.
