Let's be honest. UK is not winning a national championship this year.

That remains to be seen. I think this years tourney is as wide open as any I've seen. One thing is sure, LSU ain't.

The comment was that none of LSUs all-time greats ever won anything. LSU basketball has won everything short of a national championship.

If Skal plays like he did today, and Willis and Poythress are healthy, this team is as good as any team in the country.

Every team on selection Sunday will want to know where they are, and where Kentucky is.

Well this UK team has as much a chance as anyone at this point. And it begins with actually being in the tournament.

Yeah, but the players you hail as the greatest never won anything.

You are right.

Bob Pettit
During his junior year, Pettit helped the Tigers sail through a 23-game regular-season schedule with only one loss. A clean sweep of SEC Conference opponents became LSU's second SEC Title (their first came in 1935) and the school's first NCAA Final Four.
Pettit averaged 31.4 points and 17.3 rebounds per game during his senior year and once again led LSU to an SEC Championship and garnered All-SEC and All-American honors.

Pete Maravich
An overrated loser by SEC Rant standards.

Rudy Macklin
As a senior, he was named the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and led LSU to the NCAA Final Four.
While at LSU, Macklin won 2 SEC titles and 1 SEC Tournament Championship. The Tigers advanced to the Elite 8 in 1980 and the 1981 Final Four.

Shaquille O'Neal
At LSU, O'Neal won the 1991 SEC Title.

Shaq "won" the 1991 SEC title by tying Mississippi State for second place. Pitino and Kentucky finished first but were not eligible due to being on probation from Eddie Sutton's shenanigans.

Cheat to gain a competitive advantage and then diminish the accomplishments of those who played by the rules. Good strategy.

Im sorry, I guess you weren't aware that mere weeks ago Shaq came out and said he got paid to play at LSU.

Respond to my factual remarks from a completely uneducated vantage point. Good strategy.

I would guess zero. But I can't recall if CJ 's freshman year was 32 or sweet sixteen . Lost to Timmy Hardaway and UTEP I think . Great game

I'm not sure how you are selecting LSU's "all time greats" and "not winning anything" has been narrowed to making the Sweet 16. You have gotten very creative support an ignorant statement.

Shaq also said he was joking. I think the fact that he talked about negotiating with school's to get his son a house and cars suggests he was not being serious.

But if you have facts, a lot of people would love to see them.

It is zero. They did make the tourney every year during the Jackson/Shaq stretch though.

FTR, I wish I could go to college for 1 year, only go to class for 1 semester and still make 9 figures at 19 years old and set for a career playing basketball. Those sad UK students got him though.
Is throwing out salary booms in defense of other people the saddest thing on earth? My goodness it's lame.

And do you realize we could never talk about sports if everyone was lame enough to do it?

The GPA boom was pretty lame.
