Kiffin is definitely better than Kelly, plus he has an innate understanding of the SEC, will absolutely give him that. Kelly was a clown, I knew that from the beginning because I know ND people that haaaated the guy and had stories about him that ended up being confirmed.
The problem with Kiffin is more or less his persona, but if he ends up doing well at LSU that shouldn’t be a problem. He can get in his own way and become a liability to a program (which is why Alabama and Saban cut ties with him very fast). I think the best I’ve seen him as a person was when he coached at OM, and he actually stayed there long enough. I was shocked he took the LSU gig mainly because he had such a a good thing going for him and had finally rebuilt his reputation. The way he left comes off as a regression to most fanbases. Obviously LSU fans will reframe it as “he took the better job” and I do think Kiffin was enticed by the $$ and branding potential, but I don’t deny he wants to win. His problems stem from his impulsivity. And that does show up in his coaching from time to time. I think he can be good at LSU, but I have a feeling in my bones he’s gonna make some bad decisions either personally oe professionally (or both) that will end up burning bridges with LSU eventually.
