8 I could accept, 16 is just stupid. Just look at the Top 16 right now.

I would strongly oppose 8. This year might be a great example of why. If UCF loses to Memphis, what does the playoff look like?

#4 has won the title a few times right? It's always been #2 or #4 who wins. #1 has never won.

I'm not sure I could even accept 8.

I would be perfectly fine with 4 if they did 4 16 team conferences and then did a "regional tournament" of sorts (top 2 teams from 2 8 team divisions). Then you would have something like ND/OSU playing this week for a spot, UGA/Bama, Clemson/OU and then some sort of weird west team (obviously it would still have weaker teams in the field some years of course)

Then to win you have

+1 is the best result.

Run the playoffs or BCS #1 c #2 after the bowls.

It lets them go back to their precious traditional matchups and easily eliminates multiple undefeateds.

There would be argument about who is #3 vs #1/2, but that's always going to happen.

Definitely. There will always be arguments. That's half the fun. At that point, though, we're just talking about seeding rather than who doesn't get an opportunity on the field.

I do agree with that. Once you get past 6 you are going to have a lot of years where there are 1 or 2 teams that just should not be in a national title conversation.

I don't know if it is the best way to determine a champ in college football, but it would be fun as hell.

Yes. It is not the best way.

With all the info in place, we know who the two best teams are.

By expanding the playoffs, all you’re doing is forcing the two best teams to have an opportunity to lose a game.

How many times are you going to force them to prove they are the best team?

Eventually anyone will lose.
Except for Bama!

Slive proposed a +1 in 08 but only the ACC commish supported it. So now we're stuck with this committee of kangaroos.

While I would have been fine with just going with something like the Harris Poll, the committee is a far superior option to any process that included the computer math systems.

Yeah. This year, at a minimum, the SEC championship game means nothing to the playoff if we're looking at 8 teams. If that's not bad enough, a UCF loss might put 9-3 Florida in.

Florida...
