Isn't the 3 yard rule only a few years old anyway?
No; in some form the 3 yd rule has been around for well over 10 years. Back then it was 3 yds as long as the lineman maintained contact or stop if contact was lost.

Prove me wrong...nothing. An eligible receiver can't be blocking downfield when a pass is thrown past the LOS. Look under forward pass in the NCAA rule book 8B.
Now Doc I told you where to look. Go learn something and do not post about things that did not happen.

Ignore antibarner....he's wrong and isn't smart enough to realize he's wrong or why he's wrong. He's been whining all day; sooner or later he'll move on to another whine.

That is technically the rule. If the pass was going to who blocked cj, you probably would have gotten a call but since the focus was away, I'm not sure anyone saw it happen

There was a poster here today that claims he knows a ref that called the game.
He said they saw it but since it did not affect the play they did not call it.
Should this be true, that man should be suspended.
It most certainly affected the play,it was a part of the play intended to deceive the DB's getting them to come up to take Marshall freeing Coates.
By rule he can't be blocking downfield when a pass is being thrown.

The purpose of the rule for eligible receivers is to prevent blatant picks of defenders covering receivers. There are rubs all the time but the rule is there to prevent picks. Moseley wasn't in pass coverage...matter of fact he had started pursuing Marshall when Prosch blocked him. By that time, Coates was at least 15 yards downfield. There were no other receivers on that side of the field, except Prosch himself. If the ball had been thrown to him, then that's obvious offensive interference. But the pass was thrown at least 15 yards downfield. No way Moseley has a shot at defending that pass.

The point is Prosch was blocking downfield and he was an eligible receiver. The purpose of the Olinemen being 3 yards and him being further was to deceive the DB's into coming up.
Penalties are called all of the time away from the ball.
