Sounds very serious. I'm almost 30, and I guess I began to appreciate/follow football whenever kids are mentally able to really digest it, so just pick a year and use it as the premise of whatever really intelligent point I know is coming next.

If you're implying Gus had Auburn on hold until he heard from Arkansas, I find that hilarious.

You're gonna lose this battle. Lets just say I know a guy.

You just made a very dumb statement. If you lived in NWA you would know that is not true. There is a lot of people in the area that can not stand the man nor what he represents. The vocal minority is all you hear from though.

But to be fair, Arkansas fans turn on coaches quicker than most, since it is their 'pro sport".

If the basketball team starts to fail, you will see it in full force.

You don't say. Someone in the AD at Arkansas is telling me a story that would indicate that the guy who is 11-1 and on the verge of championship(s) was waiting around for the 0-8 school to call. How can anyone accuse you of motivation to spin that story? You're above reproach.

But it's been fitty years -- FITTY -- since OM had won back to back NYD games!

You all seem to. I have little doubt that Gus was waiting around for Arky or Auburn to call. I have little doubt that Gus would have jumped at either job.

However, the idea that he told the more prominent program to "hold on a sec while I see if I can get the Arky job" is an entirely different, and funny, assertion.

But the questions about whether Arky is a good school for that style of play, and BB's recruiting abilities down here arose immediately, and haven't been resolved.

1. "That style of play" has worked at Arkansas for our entire history. Petrino was the anomaly.

2. Last year he took a class ranked in the 80s and made it a top 20 class in about 2 months.

Its not just NWA.

I just hate the offense he runs. I have never liked the read option.

Zuh?

It took us TEN YEARS to get rid of Nutt because of all the home state fanboys he had in his corner. Most of our fan base still yearn for Petrino like some pathetic high school girlfriend who dumped them.

Auburn fired Tubby after one down year and Chizik two years removed from winning a NC, and LSU fans hate Miles even though he wins 10 games every year.

I'd say we're more patient than most.

No, I mean like the Wisconsin team that lost to Tennessee in the 2008 Outback Bowl.

What a stupid statement. That's like me saying Auburn fans wish they didn't fire Chiz.

Tell me more about your conference dominance with that style of play. Look, I'm judging you on your positioning to compete with the best in the SEC, which you haven't traditionally done with consistency. That is a compliment to your program. If you're saying that BB can guide you to bowl games, I don't dispute it.

No they are not, you know this. When the fanbase decides they've had enough it becomes a witch hunt.

The fanbase is jaded and thinks the school is a bigger player than it is, much like most schools.

The worst thing ever to Arkansas football was also its best. Holtz brought in life and consistent winning and it made the next two generations expect 10 win seasons. Still have never figured out though why the program is so horrible in bowl games in its history.
