Or it could be the 3rd party is involved in a trial right now!

At the expense of sounding like an ATPB'er, this isnt out of the realm of possibility considering what that trial is about and who the players are in it, on both sides.

Not saying I think this is true, I havent a clue, but I wouldnt shoot coke out my nose if I found it was true.

I don't think it would be too difficult to prove one way or another that Cecil had contact with an AU booster or or someone representing a booster in the 11 month period (dec 2009-nov 2010)... and bank records would show if money was moving around. I man with Cecil's bank account would show a few grand pretty easily, one would imagine. Is there any information out there that suggests that the Newton's and AU have been anything other than cooperative with the investigation? We know records were reviewed back in November with this first came about. Obviously the NCAA has no authority, but if AU and the Newtons were fighting tooth-n-nail for every bit of information that would be foolish(see USC investigation).

I don't think so. I think any finding by the NCAA will be BS to you and other AU fans.

I suspect if the NCAA doesn't find AU guilty you will treat it as BS as well.

But you don't see me saying anything other than that. At all. So your point?

I think a lot of fans assume something went down and aren't interested in being fair or requiring proof before convicting a rival football program.

Well, you had 4 players get on HBO and state some pretty strong things. You have Cecil admitting he.. HE tried to get money from MSU. You have CECIL not putting to rest the rumor and saying that he'll go with whatever they find.

Just that says to most that something isn't right. The whole outlook by the Auburn fans is that of the institution. That is "catch us if you can", "you ain't got nuttin on us", "you can't prove a thing" with a bit of arrogance to go with it.

If some one did pay the Newtons of course it would be through a third party. I don't know how Danny claiming this is breaking news.. If you are gonna buy a player, you always use someone not connected to the university. Gene Chizik writing Cecil a 180k personal check would be really dumb

Involved in what? The bribing of state officials by people interested in influencing what legislation is passed? I can't imagine why they would be involved in that?

But But But Ohio State's players signed autographs to get $200 tattoos.....up to like $3,000 worth.

If what OSU did is worthy of harsh penalties, than everything that was done here should give them much harsher penalties.

Does the NCAA take the total "value" of the case into account?

Did you forget that your head coach failed to notify the school and the NCAA of possible violations. Then he played the would be ineligible players for at least an entire year while signing a letter of compliance to the NCAA. Don't forget he also denied any previous knowledge in Dec. while trying to get the players reinstated for the bowl game.

Yep, OSU's punishment will be based on the tattoo violations...

Yes sir!

quote:

Bond confirmed Friday that he will meet with the FBI on Tuesday. When asked why the meeting was necessary, Bond said, "They don't want people shopping children around for thousands of dollars."

quote:

FBI agents looking into the Newton recruiting controversy are also asking about Milton McGregor — a dog track owner arrested last month for allegedly bribing Alabama politicians to vote pro gambling. We’re told agents asked someone connected to the Newton case if he was familiar with McGregor or the bribery scandal.

Pay attention to the time line in that statement.

Run a search for FBI involved in Cam Newton..

Yes sir.. they are involved.

I don't know if you know this or not, but the bribery bingo trial has been going on for weeks now. There has been ZERO, that is ZERO information coming out in the trail linking Cam's recruitment to anyone involved in the trail..

You are living on the assumption that the FBI overheard something about Cam during wiretaps... no evidence that they did

Link? I ask because all I can find is the original story on TMZ, which was then reported by other news sources and quickly dropped. Bond's attorney claims the FBI requested to interview him, and whether they did or not I have no idea. That's the extent of any known FBI involvement in the recruitment of Cam Newton.

cause ESPN is the bastion of all things sports - and is 10000% accurate.

the thread started out decent enough, but has devolved into another, lesser ATPB thread - im surprised it didn't attract other ATPBer cockroaches.
