I think it's just the opposite. In fact, I'd say anyone in today's world with enough courage to quote from the good book in a public forum is not worried about their appearance and the public backlash they might get for it. (And yes, I did make this thread to do exactly that, even if it was tongue in cheek.)
Did you look up the verse he quote (or did you already know it?)

dude getting that going behind closed doors i'm all for. i think whipping out jesus when your chips are down to the public is a weak move. god is focused on more important shite
