saw on an A&M board some fans are starting to wonder if Texas high schools becoming so focused on the spread offense has hurt their ability to recruit lineman (and even defensive players). A lot of TX fans are starting to think the emphasis on the spread and 7 on 7 type of football might actually be hurting them.

Oklahoma fans say this too

Not sure I agree but it definitely has me wondering if maybe there's more than a little truth to that.

There's a lot of truth to it, and it's not really a secret anymore. Jimbo has been recruiting heavily from out of state on the defensive side of the ball out of necessity. May have to start doing that for olinemen too.

Go look at the last 3 classes and you will see a ton of attrition, lots of issues on the OL, and big numbers that inflated the class rankings with lots of filler.

So yes, they have recruited well, but have had tons of misses/transfers/injuries in key areas like CB and OL.

A&M is about where you expect them to be if you look deeper into who is still there on campus, not at the recruiting rankings.

What amazes me the most is the lack of grad transfers, especially at OL and CB. But then again if you fill up on filler players to boost the recruiting rankings you may be short on counters to bring in grad transfers. Curious if A&M will have APR issues in the future.

Verbatim what happened at FSU the last 3 years there
