Actually he was hired in September of 2016 as interim head coach. So technically it's his 3rd year.

Not as HEAD COACH. See that little word "interim" you used? That means he wasn't Head Coach until he was hired as the permanent Head Coach after the season was over. Technically speaking -- your word, not mine.
