The chaos we all deserve would be Boise or SMU winning it all.

I agree. The thing is, if you aren’t in the top 4 in your conference I don’t honk you deserve a shot….thats why conference expansion is dumb in todays setup.

Wasn’t everyone asking for more teams to have a chance? We had bcs busters and G5 schools making a push.
Cincinnati taking a top 4 spot. This allows for that and still gives plenty of opportunities for larger conferences.
The sec beat each other up and still has 3 teams in the playoffs. How many should be in? 5? Over 11-1 and 10-2 teams? No.

I like the new format. It gives teams like Boise State a shot to prove themselves. No one knows how good those other schools are outside of those leagues. The transfer portal along with NIL as leveled the playing field.
Boise St is ranked below Oklahoma in teh Sagrin ratings.
They are ranked #22 in FEI and #21 in F+.
They played 1 good team all year and lost to them.
And for all that, they were rewarded with a 3 seed in the playoffs with a bye week.
DEI sucks.

The problem this year is not an expanded playoff it is the format of 12 teams with byes to highest ranked conference champions. An 8 or 16 team playoff with no byes was the way to go. Giving automatic byes to teams like ASU and Boise over more deserving teams is a mistake. I have no problem with champions getting bids but assuring them byes is the problem. The process of picking the teams should also but transparent. Why is SMU in over BYU? BYU beat SMU at SMU and also has a better strength of schedule. Now I hate BYU but it is cleasr SMU is in because of wins only. The wins are vs very sub par competition. I would like to see them have a set criteria that every team plays by. Wins, SOS, types of losses should all be done in an open and weighted way. Obviously Conference Champions should have an auto bid.

Would your opinion change if..
Alabama had beaten 2-6 Oklahoma and made the playoffs at 10-2 or
Alabama had beaten 3-5 Vanderbilt and made the playoffs at 10-2
Ole Miss had beaten 1-7 Kentucky and made the playoffs at 10-2 or
Ole Miss had beaten 4-4 Florida and made the playoffs at 10-2
Alabama and Ole Miss shite the bed in those four games. If they both just win one of those games, the SEC likely gets at least 4 and maybe 5 teams in this year.
The system is fine. Win most of the games you are supposed to win and you are in. Can you really say Alabama and Ole Miss deserve a spot when they lost those 4 games above? Those teams that beat them also lost these games OOC.
Vanderbilt lost to Georgia State
Kentucky lost to Louisville
Florida lost to Miami
For all the shite Texas gets about our schedule.. Texas went 4-0 against those teams.. and if Alabama and Ole Miss went 2-2 or even 1-3.. we would have 4 teams in..

I’m sure you are a decent fanbase….my point is I want my team to have the strongest chance to make the playoff. We will be capped as a conference most years to 4 or less teams…having more conference teams only hurts your percentages.

They should do this anyways so they can actually determine who their best teams are, instead of leaving multiple 3-loss teams, and a 2-loss team who played no one good other than the team who beat them twice (Texas).

My whole problem with yesterday was letting Clemson in. That's the 1 team I can point to and say 100% without a doubt they didn't deserve shite. They stayed at 16 and that's not good enough. That 5th conference champ has no business with an automatic bid. If you move up to the top 12 fine. But just winning that game against a suspect opponent and being the only thing you did all year means you don't deserve jack shite.
