That would have to be the most absurd contract ever. Surely theres language in the contract that would absolve LSU of a buyout if they fired him with cause.

"Cause" is the key. LSU admin needs to prove it.

As it stands TODAY with the very minimal and limited hit piece leaked in the Yahoo article....
Wade exercised unethical behavior
Wade failed to monitor his own actions
Wade did not foster an atmosphere of Compliance
Wade exposed LSU to scrutiny and possible sanctions
Wade exhibited insubordination because he refused to meet with his superiors

That's just based off of a couple of snips of a leaked phone conversation.

At minimum, LSU has all the leverage and has the upper hand to settle on a reduced buyout for Wade unless they choose to push it to the point where they'd have to pay no buyout.

I could live with that as long as it is with this in our hands.

Does LSU just keep Wade and use an interim for that long?

At that point it really make no sense firing Wade if the NCAA does charge Wade. Wade will likely get “show cause” and LSU will get sanctions. Might as well ride is out together. And it all depends on the nature of the sanctions if there are any.

No, that's based on an article written about the phone conversation. To my knowledge, the phone conversation itself has not been leaked.

LSU absolutely has leverage right now, and nobody has argued otherwise. But why would LSU make any decision at this point in time when they can wait and make a more informed decision after receiving more info? What's the downside?

I’d imagine wire fraud and racketeering for starters, but yeah the FBI hasn’t publicly stated they’re investigating him. It’s not like the Aunt Becky situation where we all knew it was coming. Oh. Wait.
