Seeing a lot of parallels between LSU's football and baseball search

Media and "insiders" throw a bunch of names around, pretty clear no one knows anything.
Experienced, big names thrown around but nothing much happens (Jimbo and Riley vs Sully and Corbin).
Retired guy who's been out of the game awhile (Peterson vs Casey).
Have a young, hot name but questions about experience (Aranda vs Vitello).
Then, a little talked about, solid but not spectacular name emerges late and is hired (Jay Johnson).
In this case, Matt Campbell would fit the bill.

I think Stoops and Campbell would be solid hires. They aren't sexy names but they're both solid coaches.

He wouldn’t have the Lions winless if he was their coach. He would be an awesome hire, but they think they are getting Riley.

I don't really like posting there.
It's a delusional echo chamber for the most part.
I got soundly downvoted for pointing out that Riley has similar resources now as he'd have at LSU yet isn't getting it done vs weaker competition.

Also interesting that Glenn Guilbeau dropped a list of three finalists shortly before the baseball hire which included Jay Johnson.
He recently did the same for the football search, the finalists being Billy Napier, Dave Aranda, and Matt Campbell.

I don't know that Napier to Florida is a done deal.
The "source" that reported it is a podcast with 17 followers and Napier himself said last night that he hasn't made a decision.
It's interesting to me that Aranda seems to be staying at Baylor. Really thought he'd be ending up at LSU and USC.

Woodward has done a great job while at LSU, I really do think he has his guy already.
