The heart appears to be in ok shape. The family is doing as well as be expected. My wife is old and grouchy, but I am too. So that evens out.
I hope you and yours are well and happy.
I can’t wait for football to start. It’s been too long.
We should get together soon and talk about Texas and Oklahoma. SEC going to hell.

Publix and HEB/Central Market makes some damn good fried chicken for those of us who live near them.

This is about true southern food. Southern staples. South Louisiana food is not what you find in the rest of the south as staples. Those are novelties to the rest of us. There is a great big world outside of Lafayette, Delcambre and Abbeville. I am indifferent to gumbo, I can eat it a couple times a year, had shrimp stew once, yuk, that was flat out awful. Jambalaya is…ok at times. I don’t want shrimp on my sandwich no time ever. I do like corn and crab bisque tho. Give me some fried chicken, mashed potatoes with white gravy, fried okra, cornbread and maybe some sliced tomato every day of the week. It’s all how you were brought up.
I'd take Boudin, cracklins, and hoghead cheese over your boring comfort food. Fried chicken and fried okra are legit though.
White Gravy is an abomination.
