Exactly
How many games has Dan Mullen's team been the favorite against the SEC West? Once- and he's 1-0
Time to get a new banner up in Starkville.

How did this go from being a thread about Mullen, to State fans making fun of Ole Miss? Deflection.

I haven't mentioned them. But one of their posters turned my comment into a comment about them.

I just thought it was funny. I read the first couple of pages and my eyes started to bleed.

that's because it's a dumb thread. People talking shite to state fans because their 2 year coach has beaten all the teams he was supposed to and one he wasn't supposed to. I guess that is just a terrible, terrible coaching job. I mean i guess that is what this thread is about.

Or because State fans act like Mullens is Jesus when he really hasn't beat anyone in the West but Ole Miss?
I love the 2nd year coach excuse, like nothing can be accomplished in the first 2 years.

All of whom (except Chip Kelly) had been head coaches at other schools, and Kelly was handed a 10-win team from the year before he started. Those weren't brand new head coaches.
It's all relative--only one once in the last 30 years or so had State won 9 games and finished in the Top 15, and Mullen was able to accomplish that in his 2nd year, when MSU was 4-8 the year before he started.
State's bar is simply lower than those other schools. Bama, LSU, Florida, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and even Auburn and Oregon are big time programs. If Mullen can continue with similar success, then maybe more can be expected from him. For now, I'll take 9 wins and Top 15 anytime.
I think the the "beat no other team in the SEC West other than Ole Miss" is a stupid stat.
There are "strength of schedule" rankings and many computer and human rankings that take everything into consideration to gauge the strength of one team vs another.
A "record vs part of a division" is irrelevant. As a State fan, I certainly wouldn't be happier if State had beaten Arkansas but lost to Georgia and Florida and ended up with only 8 wins. In 2007, State beat both Auburn and Bama (and Ole Miss). Doesn't matter, 2010 was a much better season than 2007 for MSU.

How many are there?
So what exactly is your beef with Mullen? His wife is hotter than any woman you have ever been with or hope to ever be with, he makes a shite load of money which you will obviously never make. So why are you trying to make a stupid statement about him. He got beat by the national champions, the defending national champions, took Arkansas to two OT's and lost to LSU which also won a national championship. He also almost beat LSU in his first year at Starkville. What exactly is your point?
