I think this is the year TE Desean Smith makes some noise. If there's one position on LSU's team that can have a major impact this season, I think it's the TE position.

What on earth makes you think that? Lsu hasn't gotten production from a tight end in years, why would that change?

Wow what a stinky list there. Lots to prove in 2015.

I'm an Aubie, and love Lawson, but I can't think of a player in recent memory that has gotten such mileage from potential. He will be a beast in 2015 (and hopefully beyond), but all he's done is show he's not a bust so far.

I have no issue with this. Fournette will prove he is the best in due time. Chubb had the better year and deserves to be in that spot. Don't stereotype LSU fans please as the only homer for their own players. "All" fans do the same and it is really idiotic to think differently.

Again if not right now at this moment he will be soon enough, fact!

One of the new SC DEs will be on this list by the end of the season.

It definitely remains to be seen, however, there has been an emphasis this offseason on getting the ball in the TE hands.

Good post. I think everyone realizes that of course not ALLLL lsu fans act that way, there are some sensible ones. But the vocal minority sure is vocal, and it's really not based on any reality. It gets annoying.

This goes for just about every program. The posters who are capable of critical thought are generally not the ones who are constantly posting in every thread on tRant.

Curt Maggitt should be listed at #3; his stats are interchangeable with Garrett's last season.

11 Sacks/15 TFL last season and he is more multiple than any of the other DEs on this list. plays 4/3 DE and can/does move to OLB in things like nickel/dime.

Jalen Reeves-Maybin should be on this list

101 tackles, 11 tfl, 2 sacks, 1 int and 2 fumble recoveries and this was his true sophomore season and first year as a starter. He will be even better and take on more responsibility this season.

Nope
Based on potential Fournette is better
Based on actual results Williams.

If potential could produce results many of players would be hailed lol

SEC Top 5 players by position
C and LB are the only positions where Mizzou stands out.

Brothers had 122 tackles last year, and Scherer had 114.

That's a sick LB duo for next season.

Brothers and Scherer are the top two returners in tackles from last season. Both of them are going to be given more opportunities to make plays before the line of scrimmage this season, especially Brothers, and that should earn them some more recognition. McGovern is a top five guard if he sticks there instead of tackle. Dennis and Penton are both near the top at CB.

Also, Harold Brantley is better than Nk.
