Other than JFF maybe Gurley seems like he'd have the best opportunity. Clowney gets hampered at his position since he cant get the quantity of tackles and INTs that voters seem to love so much; Bama won't have a sole featured back and won't pass enough to boost Cooper's numbers.
Then again who knew about JFF at this point a year ago, half the winners seem to rise from nowhere while established names fade. Just 2 months ago the country was creaming its pants over Geno Smith

It will be both an advantage and a disadvantage for Clowney that he will go into the 2013 in the discussions for the Heisman, as opposed to being a surprise candidate that rises up in mid-season, which IMO both Teo and Manziel was....

They shouldn't have had the one they have. Ingram being given the trophy was as bullshite as Gino Toretta being given his.
Other than Manziel, I don't see anyone starting next season as a solid contender. It should be a wide open race.

Nope. We're all about winning the top prize. If we have a Heisman conteder here and there, that's nice, but I'd rather have a National Title than a Heisman winner. I'm sure everyone would agree.

And since only one group awards the Heisman, Alabama can't claim the Heisman in years when other people have won it too.

When they didn't vote in Suh....I think THATS when the decided it wouldn't be awarded to a defensive player. Or if it were to be awarded to one, be better be a badass cuz teo wasn't. Stat wise.

Would like to think Amari Cooper could make a serious run at it. He didn't even become a starter until mid October. He had 2 or 3 games during that stretch where he alone was responsible for most of McCarrons passing yardage. But, I know how hard it is for a wide receiver to win a Heisman. At the very least, Cooper could win the Biletnikoff. Julio Jones is Alabama's career touchdown leader with 18, Cooper had 9 this year...

Manziel's biggest problem (ignoring for a moment that he'll likely lose his 2 tackles) is expectations. If he doesn't exceed this year's record-breaking season then he's obviously not as good, right? (At least, that's how the voters will see it.)
I'd guess Gurley could do it and maybe McCarron/Murray if either returns and goes 13-0. The one I'd like to see win if not JFF is Clowney. He'd be the perfect example of what it takes to win on defense. I've enjoyed watching his highlights since HS.

Meh, not a big deal. Tebows Heisman year was statistically his best year and Florida went 9-4 (their worst record under Tebow). 2008-2009 Tebow just utilized the weapons around him better, wasn't as much of a one man show, and had a much better defense.

Clowney. Gurley. Yeldon. JFF again. Hill, potentially. That safety at UF, Elam, I think, if another defensive player merited consideration and if he stayed put for another year.

If these 3 were getting 80% of the carries every game for their team they would all have a legit shot. However, all of them are splitting carriers with other very talented backs. Gurley has Marshall, Yeldon will probably have Hart and possibly Lacy back (wasn't there another Bama back that was getting touches but got hurt too?), and Hill has Blue who was getting the bulk of the carries before his injury and Hilliard, Ware and Ford all getting touches here and there (Ware and Ford could possibly leave)
I do know they are all studs and will enjoy watching all 3 of them play in the SEC for the next couple of years. The best part is LSU plays UGA, aTm, and Bama next year so they get to face all the SEC's top contenders for the Heisman (assuming AJ and Murray come back next year)

RB Depth was Lacy, Fowler, Hart and then Yeldon.
Fowler and Hart were injured and Yeldon stepped up to split with Lacy.
