Do they still play the Hurricanes as well? I know they've fallen on hard times as of late, but having FSU and Miami on the schedule should absolve them of any accusations of stacking their schedule with cupcakes.

I accept the realities of needing the extra home games for revenue, and that the strength of the conference makes it too much of a disadvantage to load up the OOC schedule with powerhouses. That being said, you can't just put in scrimmage games.

For nonconference schedules, I expect a team to schedule one competitive P5 opponent, and at least one legit team out of the other two ("legit" being a team like App State, WKU, Troy, etc.) I'm impressed if an SEC team has the balls to schedule TWO strong P5 OOC opponents in the same year - LSU has been a leader in that.

I agree. We all need a couple of cupcake games. Just not 4 of them.

Florida and Mississippi State are the answers to this question.

State has played ONE out of conference P5 team in the regular season since Mullen arrived.

ONE.

One team since 2009.

I don't think Florida has played a regular season OOC game outside of the Sunshine State since 1991 or something like that.

That is embarrassing.

However, they are propping up quite a few CUSA and Sun Belt schools revenues. They are just givers.

Next year UF has Mich and FSU. That is the toughest OOC schaduleing I can remember in recent history for an SEC team.

Since when is that some important requirement? They happen to have several decent programs in state, and two historically outstanding ones.

I've never understood the whole "Florida won't leave their state" argument. Why should they go to the expense of travelling farther, and deprive the fans of in state rivalries, just so they can say the "traveled out of state"?

Impressive
That is, if FSU decides they want to keep playing football after that Louisville slaughter.

I don't get it either. Travel > strength of opponent?

I do wish we played a PAC-12 team or UCF or USF instead of a cupcake, would be a decent opener.

I thought this was wrong because I was pretty sure UMass is in Amherst. Apparently there are 5 campuses considered part of "The University of Massachusetts", and their football team does play in Boston.

Big Ten fans say this a lot. They get so caught up in statistics that they miss the whole point. The two idiotic Big Ten arguments I hear are "Florida never leaves the state to play an OOC opponent", and "Southern teams have an advantage in bowl games because they aren't played in cold weather".

I understand Florida's predicament, but I much prefer being able to play Syracuse, ND, Miami, Oregon, Cal, OU, etc.. than the same team every year.
