Actually you are right. Lee led the SEC in passing efficency. He was the perfect QB for the offense we ran then - nothing spectacular, just efficient, convert 3rd downs, and let your running game pick up most of the yards. That's the scheme we need to run - not the crazy shite we ran with Jefferson.

Nothing puzzling about it.

LSU ran the ball with Jefferson 14 times. LSU's best RB - Hilliard - ran it 5 times.

You aren't going to win many games if your QB has 3 times as many rushing attempts as your best RB, much less in a NC game against Bama

Well, I wasn't really that shocked by Bama shutting down LSU's offense although maybe not to the extent that they did. LSU didn't have a single sustained drive against Bama on November 5th. A majority of the yards in the drive first score came on a long pass when the secondary blew a coverage, the second score came off a TD that put LSU's offense deep in Bama's territory, and the third score obviously came when LSU started the ball on Bama's 25 yard line in overtime. I was more surprised by how poorly LSU's defense played. Bama didn't have a single turnover, put up almost 400 yards, and A.J. threw for 234 yards. A.J. played well but he actually missed a few throws that could have went for big yardage so he easily could have put up more yards. LSU's defense just didn't seem to have the same energy that they did on November 5. They just seemed slow and lethargic for some reason on that night.

We steamrolled everyone except for Alabama. We were destroying teams left and right. Alabama will be the only team this year to play us close. Thankfully it's in Tiger Stadium.

Bama has a nice record in TS.

Exactly. So when someone says "I will be shocked if LSU doesn't win it all" I just can't help but laugh. Even with the best team in the nation you need luck to win it all. AND you have a green QB who hasn't done shite.

SEC is never a guaranteed victory, so to think we breeze through is a little outlandish but I don't understand the "green" QB talk ESP from bama fans after watching McCarron step in and do what he did this last year.

Oh yeah, the East.

And the fact we have won three in a row against them, including the last two years at their place.

Get ready to be shocked. BAMA will win the SEC this year and the Natty.

True, but I think offense deserves most of the blame. LSU completley tanked with that scheme. We didn't attempt any deep passes, and we didn't even run with our 4 quality RBs very much. We put the entire game on Jefferson. Remember this was after LSU fell behind to Arkansas 14-0 and failed to pick up a first down against Georgia in the SECCG.

This is the SEC, we are full of great football teams.

Very alleged. We have LSU and Bama, then a number of good teams. Still, that should be enough for another SEC National Champion.

Unless of course BK gets his QB situation together and Notre Dame makes a run.... sorry, can't finish that statement without laughing.

Not sure if Chill is being serious but I genuinely feel the same as what he posted. While I see the probability of a drop off on the defensive side of the ball, I really dont feel like its going to be as bad as some people make it out to be. But to make up for it will be an offense that should be much more potent than last years with a QB with experience that isnt spending half of his time working on a Rhodes Scholarship like G-Mac was (no disrespect meant for the people that will flame me for that comment, just facts) plus G-Mac didnt get the benefit of a genuine, hands on, national championship game to pull experience from since he was playing terribly injured and mostly handed the ball off all night. He passed the ball less than 10 times actually. McCarron on the other hand was the fricking MVP of his BCS NCG. Not to mention that most of our playmakers on both offense and defense played hurt all year. When they finally got to rest up enough to heal their wounds they took a Michigan St team, that was 1 play away from being the Big 10 champs, completely apart in truly embarrassing fashion.

For these reasons I dont think you will see the falloff this year that we saw in 2010 unless we have those same injury problems. This is going to be a reloaded team, not a rebuilt one, with some improvements in some postions to help make up for some of the voids left in others.

Regardless, this is by far the most exciting time in my lifetime to be an Alabama fan, not counting the few months I was alive in 1979.

Still an upgrade from last season.

And LSU steamrolled through the SEC last year (Alabama being the exception) and most of that team returns. LSU could slip up, but it really isn't that big of a stretch to say LSU is the favorite to win it all. I'm not sure what you are laughing so much about.

The WVU game was the game where he played the best. Not an Sec defense, but we threw the ball all over the field and had several run plays where we faked a short pass that went for big yardage too. As JJ played more, the offensive efficiency decreased and Lee's overall play declined. I guess Lee was a headcase who needed 100% of the reps to perform to his max potential.

The UK game was one of our weaker margins of vicotry, especially considering how bad they were (I think it was one of three games all season we didn't cover). In the UF game, Lee was still pretty good at QB, but in the AU game, he didn't throw a TD until the last half of Q2 after JJ threw a bomb TD to Randle and we were up a good bit.

My friends and I were demoralized after JJ got the start vs. WKU (and took a safety on an intentional grounding); based on our post game reaction, you'd have thought we lost. We all said its on Miles if we lose with JJ at QB.

It's insane how similar the margins of victory among common opponents were with LSU and Bama. Their margins of victory against Mississippi State, Florida, Ole Miss, and Arkansas were within four points of each other.

Which further illustrates how massive of a bed shite it took for that national championship game to not be close.

That game could and should have been as epic as 2005 USC vs. Texas.

I still don't know what Miles was thinking and why we let certain people put ego and emotion in front of winning a damn title.

When he was starting, our offense was balanced and we had a very effective play action game that produced some deep passes. That's what we expect this year with Mett.

And Bama has the only BCS title without winning their conference.
