Eh, maybe. You don't know what happens if you throw someone other than Hjelle in game 1. The point is, your goal is to win the first two. The first game is no more important than the second. You give yourself the best chance to win the first two. Logic tells you that your best chance to do that is to throw your second best pitcher against the 4 seed and your Ace against the 2/3 seed.
Depends on the matchup. Obviously Ohio had enough bats to keep it competitive even while pitching our ace, so as I said earlier in hindsight you can just as easily make the argument that if you pitch Lewis or someone else that first game they lose that game.
Kentucky also has a thinner bullpen and it would've been almost impossible for them to get out of elimination if they lost the first game. And in hindsight, Indiana hit the ball really really well yesterday in that elimination game too.
This would be a different conversation if Kentucky rolled in the first game and wasn't competitive in the second. There's really no good reason to question the decision at this point.

Yeah and we were one win away from winning the SEC Tourney.
Today ORU ,a 3 seed, could end our season.
It's baseball

Auburn looking more like the team that started 14-7 in the SEC play. Both Keegan Thompson and Casey Mize look to have their arms back. Both were consistently 94-95 so far which is the first time all season I've seen Keegan in that range. Casey usually is anywhere from 95-97 so he was a little off but his split finger was deadly yesterday which is a pitch he has really thrown the last month or so. Our defense has played great in the regional and our offense has put just enough pressure on opposing pitchers to get a few big innings. Now we have to figure out a way to win that 3rd game which has been the issue all year once Mize/Keegan aren't pitching.

Mize could have a mediocre split-finger fastball and still be dominant. Hardly anyone throws it in college. It's pretty special
ETA: not implying his is mediocre. It's damn good

Because they don't have suites at the park?

I would assume Davis Daniel would start for AU although if Tenn Tech beats FSU I would consider giving game 3 to Andrew Mitchell with all the lefties they have. Mitchell is the wildcard for AU. If he can throw strikes which is 50/50 we can legit make the CWS.

You have to play the same amount of games to win the regional whether you lose the first or second game. As I said earlier, winning the first two games is the goal. Neither the first or second game is more important than the other.
With that said, good luck in your elimination game today.

How is State handling the pitching? 5 guys in the first game. JohnnyWholestaff or are they just struggling per usual.
