This can be said for most every team Cal has had, it just doesn’t work for him anymore. With the portal the talent is getting distributed out all over and it comes a time when he either adapts and learns to coach or get out.

Kentucky is supposed to be the bell cow of the conference and I have no problem with that but it pisses me off that y’all are handcuffed to this carpetbagger. I know we fell off a cliff after Richardson, but that shouldn’t happen there.

I miss the Pitino/Richardson games, win or lose they were great games.

Not that it matters much but I feel like MSU is a top 25 team.

I am so f#%^ing excited for this years CBB season. Long live Chris Jans!

The hump recently renovated is about to be rocking and we have some outside shooting this year!

I just got some sort of weird feeling that KSG could relate to this thread.

Wasn’t a comeback. It’s a true statement.

Tennessee is holding/propping up the conference in BB already. This will happen in every sport eventually.

Go Vols!

In what world? TN had a cake walk and lost to little FAU in the sweet 16. Two sweet 16s in 8 years and nothing more. Reg Season Rick is real

Muss had done more the last 3 years than TN has done all time

Arkansas hasn't won anything in the conference since 2000.

Keep hanging your moral victory E8 appearance banners.

Football or baseball, we would be freaking out if our top team was #8 with only 1 in the top 10 and 6 in the top 25 (including Texas). Yet in basketball, it's stacked.

I miss the days of at least always having Kentucky in the top 5. They get average at football and forget how to play hoops. Love having more quality teams in conference, but we need that true stud team that everyone wants to knock off.

Lmao you know your basketball is trash when you think regular season matters when you fall flat in March.

Elite 8s greater than anything in regular season.

More people watch a single March madness game than 8-10 regular season games combined.

Welcome to basketball kid.

I’d act like the NCAA tournament isn’t king as well if I had one elite 8 all time

Jans should definitely have them in contention for the NCAAT, especially (hopefully) with the addition of Josh Hubbard. They were consistently one of the more physical teams last year, and would've really turned the corner down the stretch with any semblance of outside shooting, IMO.

They seem to have added some scoring options and also bring back every starter from last year. I expect them to safely be a tournament team rather than a bubble team playing in Dayton like last year.

I think so too.

I was actually at the State game in Tuscaloosa last year, and was really impressed with how aggressively they played. Kind of reminded me a bit of Houston defensively, at least on that one night.

State held Alabama to 18% shooting from three, but just couldn't close it because no one could make an open basket when they needed it. Look at their long second-half stretches with virtually no points:

So IMO you're right, with some competent shooting and solid offensive minutes off the bench, they could potentially really be a dangerous team when it all comes together.

Dsiparage conference play all you want- at least Tennessee has won something recently. Arkansas has won nothing.
