jeez

I got a free ride to Ole Miss due to my ACT score. I didn't wanna go into debt during college through a bunch of college loans, so I chose Ole Miss. The choice was (mostly) financial in nature.

When I was 18 deciding probably the home state school of LSU. Now, I would say in order

1)Vandy
2)UGA
3)UF
4)Miss St
5)LSU
6)Auburn
7)USC

Metrytyger,

That wasn't a flame at all. I don't know who is Cajun and who isnt in Louisiana but the people sure do embrace the culture. Baton Rouge is my favorite road game city. Everything from food, the booze, and all the crazy characters you meet. Prob one of the few Bama fans who actually likes going there but it doesn't hurt I have friends from high school that live there now

I got into Bama but out of state tuition was too much. My dad is a Bama alum and I went to games growing up but OOS tuition was a pain in the arse. Also my mom is a UGA alum but I have never been to Athens, but everything I have heard is good.

So I would chose Bama then UGA.

Either Ole Miss, UGA or maybe even Florida.

Probably a great choice. I think the value of a prestigious undergrad degree is extremely over-hyped and usually leads to a lot of 22 year old kids with 6 figure debt and a 40k a year job.

My dad told me the same thing. He said that, if I got into a bigtime graduate school he'd help me pay for it, but not an undergraduate school, because he didn't think having a fancy undergrad degree was worth much. Said masters and doctorates where what separated people from the pack.

I attend LSU right now, but if I go with pharmacy my obvious choices are UGA and Ole Miss. I would probably go the Ole Miss route, although UGA has been by-far my favorite LSU road trip.

The only other SEC school I applied to was UGa (and was accepted).

Didn't really want to go there though. Never really serious about it. If I hadn't got into Auburn, I would have headed to Notre Dame.

As for LSU and Ole Miss being alike-I would say only in the kind of people. There is plenty of money at LSU; LSU is just far, far more diverse. It would be much easier to be outside the Southern stereotype than at Ole Miss.

Both have amazing campuses. The towns are very much different, and I have to give Oxford the nod there. Although not important, I enjoy LSU's tailgating scene WAYYY more. I love to dress nice, I just think we have a better set-up and just better food.

Agreed. Students are sadly mistaken if they think an undergrad degree from a fancy school will dramatically enhance their chances at getting into a great grad school. It is all about the LSAT, MCAT, etc. If anything going to a lower ranked undergrad school might help because your GPA will probably be better. Grad schools don't care about anything but how your stats will improve their ranking.

I know plenty of people from UGA, Ole Miss and Bama who currently attend Harvard Law, Yale Medical School, etc.
